Question about Dell M992 19" CRT Monitor
Hey guys, I have a DELL M992 19" CRT. Recently, my monitor shut off and when I turn it back on, the screen stays black. I disconnected everything for a few hours and it turned back on for a night. Next day, the same problem occurred and now it shuts off every half an hour or so. I'm guessing something is burnt out inside the monitor. Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem could be or what needs to be replaced inside the monitor? And would it be possible for a guy like me who has never opened a monitor to fix the problem myself or would I need to take it to a repair shop? And last but not least, what could be the expenses? Thanks for all your help.
The labor rate in the midwest where I live is $50 just to look at it. Unless you have electronic experience and test equiptment, I do not believe you wil be ableo to service it yourself.Usually cheeper just to buy another replacement one.

Tips for a great answer:

Jun 12, 2008 | Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP 24" LCD Monitor
the screen has begun vibrating and is very hard to read.
it sounds me that there is some sparking in power supply or high voltage section (FLYBACK) due to loose contact,
your problem of shut off, I would turn it back on and it would stay on
.might be also due to that only.
please call tech if you are not a tech person.
it is not a major one & simple to fix.
