MFC_5840CN Will not print, not showing

Typically, a Brother machine stops printing, because the connection between the computer and the Brother machine is lost. There are multiple reasons for a lost connection.
  1. The Brother print driver is Offline.

  2. The Brother printer driver is not set as the default printer driver.

  3. The computer, not the monitor, connected to the Brother machine is set to go into sleep or standby mode. When the computer goes into sleep or standby mode, the connection between the computer and the Brother machine is lost and needs to be re-established.
Follow the steps below in order to re-establish the connection between the Brother machine and the computer:
  1. Verify that the Brother machine is connected with a USB cable and is not on a network.

  2. Verify the power cord and USB cable are securely connected. If the USB cable is loose on either end, disconnect and reconnect the cable securely. Test the machine by trying to print. If the machine does not print, go to STEP3.

  3. Cycle the power of the Brother machine by unplugging the power cord from power outlet, wait approximately one minute and plug back in. Once the Brother machine displays the date and time after plugging it back in, test the machine by trying to print. If the machine does not print, to Step 4.

  4. Reboot the computer connect to the Brother machine and then try to print again.

If I ask for 2 or 3 copies, I only get 1 copy. Also, I don't know why the Contro Center no longer shows on my DeskTop and why I can't instanll it in my task bard below. It used to work just fine.

Brother mfc210c printer driver

I believe your brother printer uses one driver for fax/scan and another driver for printing. It might seem like you haven't installed the printer driver, only the fax/scan driver. You should find the driver file and the instruction on this page:

PS: the driver linked to above is for os 10.4. You might want to search for a different version if you have a newer/older OS.

If the link doesn't work, search for the driver from's site and download and install the driver by following their 12 points instruction. Good luck!

Brother MFC210C without warning message displayed "unable to print" trouble shoot and routine maintenance chapter in user guide. Have followed the guide for cleaning etc, have installed new usb...

Waste ink pads are most likely full. If you are keen on the device you will need to strip it down, remove and clean the waste ink pads located in a chamber just behind the cartridge chamber, refit the pads and re-assemble the machine. Then you will need to go to google or similar search engine and locate the purge reset key code sequence for your machine. When you have done all that your machine will PROBABLY work - but no guarantee :-)

first you will have to install the cd that came with the printer. i will assume that you bought the printer new, some where while you are installing the cd it will ask you to plug the usb cable in to the printer. one end into the printer marked usb and the other end into a usb port on the back of your computer. if everything installed correctly, you will be ready to print to the printer. good luck brother tech
