Loads cassete ok, loads tape ok and switches off after 6 seconds. Eject ok I cleaned the mode switch. I checked the end sensor, they are ok. Resoldered the end sensors , led, and the vcr plugs/sockets. After all this , it is still doing the same problem. Then it started to work ok, pb was ok. Then I installed the cover and it would not work anymore, same problem ????
Anyone can help me with this problem ??? Thanks R??jean SERVICE ELECTRONIQUE SATELLITE QU??BEC

I had a similar problem with my JVC HR-S9500 but it switched off after 1 to 2 seconds. I did some research and changed the gold-cap and some other condesators but nothing helped. Then I tried to find the signal for switching off. There are some wire bridges near the gold-cap towards the microprocessors. One of the soldering points of the wires has been a cold one! Resoldering worked and now it is running again!

If the power levels look correct, then remove and thoroughly clean and reassemble the mode switch.

I think a HR-S9500 has the SMPS on the main board, and since it's not enclosed, the caps don't tend to go bad as often.

As soon as the tape loads press pause. If it sits in pause ok then you probably have a reel sensor problem. If it still cuts out you probably have a drum rotation detection fault or tape loading is not complete. John.

technics sl-p555. when a disc is inserted you can hear the laser trying to read the disc but the disc stays still unless helped along by hand and then it will spin slowly then speed up till it gets to the required speed to actually play the disc then it will work fine until you next change the disc. i've swapped disc mechanisms out of an sl-p777 and an sl-ps70 which are in perfect working order and the problem persists so i know that no part of the mechanism is faulty so i've narrowed the fault down to the main PCB. maybe a power supply fault? any help gratefully received. thanks.

i have a jvc hr-s9500 s-vhs vcr which has started going dead after around 20mins. firstly the FL display just goes out completely around 30 seconds after switch-on with every other function still working including playback, rewind, ffw and menus etc but then after around between 5 and 20 mins it will just die with no power whatsoever. after unplugging for 5 / 10 mins it will come back on and repeat the same process of dying again. any ideas? thanks.
