Question about Onkyo TA-R440 Single Dual Cassette Deck
Hello, I have an Onkyo tape deck - single tape, pretty new, not often played - that up to now has been working fine. I'm trying to transfer cassette to digital, and all the sudden no matter what tape I'm playing, the deck suddenly stops at random intervals. I've tried winding the tapes in various ways but this hasn't helped (and the issue has happened on every tape, as I've said) - anyone know why this might be happening and how I can work to fix it?

Did you try a hard reset by unpluging all the cords form back for 30min and then plug it back.I'll let you know if there is any service manual available.

By the fault you describe this sounds very much like a belt problem. Take the case off the deck and check the belt(s). Some decks can use more than one belt and you need to look at their condition.
Are they too slack around pulleys maybe? Belts don't last forever and I'm not too sure of the age of your deck. But personally, I would change them all.
Make sure the tape path is clean as well, clean heads, pinch roller and capstan.

Sounds like the cassette tape itself is too tight to play, try fast forwarding or rewinding the tape in the deck all the way to the end of tape several times before trying to play. This may solve the problem
