Hoover shapmpooer will not dispence the water

I checked the other problems and it seems that I have it all assembled correctly. The small screen is attached to the small round hole on the tank. I get no water and no suds. Brush rotates fine. Help!

RockyNR1 - thanks for the tip, I did not notice the "white straw" in the tank. How do I find out if it is clogged? Can I take the top off the tank to get to the straw (I tried to pull it off and couldn't). If I turn the tank upside down and pour water into the tank's little round hole that has the white straw, water goes into the tank directly from the hole without going through the straw - is this supposed to happen?

Changing topics now to the sponge - I had cleaned this before using the shampooer. After using the shampooer this had some gunk on it, so I presume that it has some suction. The sudser valve opens/closes properly and I can pour water through the 2 little holes from under the sponge and it goes into the tank so I think that part is okay.

The small screen is sitting in the tube that attaches to the tank (I did have it attached to the small tube on the tank when I started shampooing) and tray; I can pour water through the tube okay.

Also, my Kirby shampoo is older (years old) - but if I shake the bottle, I get lots of bubbles - should I try new shampoo?

My sister had used the shampooer years ago so it did work at one time. This is a 12 (?) year old G4 that I use as a vacuum and it still vacuums fine.

Sorry if too many details, but this is really bugging me... :-)

Check for clogs in valve (under the sponge on the water tank.
Make sure the sponge is clean
See if the screen is not clogged.
See if the supply tube (white straw inside water tank is not clogged)

Water will not dispence while cleanning

Before using tool
It may be necessary to remove air from
the system ("prime the pump") so the
clean solution will flow to the tool. Follow
these steps:
1. Attach tool to hose and turn the carpet
cleaner ON.
2. Put the tool on a hard surface or
against your hand to block off the suction.
3. Wait a few seconds (can take up to
15 seconds). Then squeeze the trigger
and begin cleaning

Steamvac will not stop dispensing cleaner. Once I pull the trigger it starts to dispence liquid and will not stop even when I release the trigger.

This sounds like a faulty solenoid that may be intermittantly working. I would take it to a repair shop for evalualtion

Hoover steam cleaner wont pickup water

in the front on top the cover that curves down to the floor is where the suction is .it should be plastic you can see into.its probably clogged with hair and need tro take that top off and it comes apart in two sections .the middle seperates from the outer part.once apart you can clean it with soap and water.after you get that off you will see on your left side a long square port that needs to be cleaned also.please leave feedback.i hope i was of some help to.pete

Pck up

Makw sure the recovery tank lid is secured down all of the way around, sometimes it doesn't catch and will **** up. Also check the filter on th inside of the recovery tank lid, it needs to be at least a 1/4 in. gap from the top. If it is pushed up all of the way, then it won't allow suction.

I read the manual and tried my new Hoover, the brushes spin, but the waters not going to the bottom tank, what does that mean and what can i do?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You could have a bad water release valve on your water tank of which holds the water, the trigger assm might not be connected, bent or broken. Check the trouble shooting owners manual --- also there are hoses that could be crimped or bent, or clogged or not connected, but it is my guess it is the water release valve. Try to back track the water from the holding tank and test all the valves on the system and you might find the problem by the process of elimination.
