Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

Green light flashing-tv will not reset-no picture no sound

We have a 52 inch tv that will not start. The service dept where we purchased it said the flashing green light was due to a bad lamp. We replaced the lamp and the tv still flashes the green light and still not picture or sound. Do you have any suggestions??? Thank you.

I have a WD-52525 with a quickly flashing green light (~3Hz) whenever we plug it in or hit the reset button. It will only respond to those two things. (oh, and opening the lamp cover - lamp light blinks instead, but that's hardwired)

Best Buy guy came to look at this exact problem months ago (back when it was still under warrantee) and it cleared up after leaving it in this state for 18 hours (to wait for him to get there) and then unplugging for a few seconds and plugging back in. We chalked it up as intermittent and he left. This time waiting has not worked.

If I were to guess it would be some kind of worn out circuit on a board somewhere making it think it needs to self-test until kingdom come. Next step is to take it apart and vacuum out all of the dust. That is, unless someone else can come to the rescue. DVR is filling up quick! Help!!

I have a green light blinking under the word timer. No sound or picture. The repair man said it was the main chip board but mitsubishi dosent sell a main chip board. If you have had same problem please let me know what board to buy. Thanks

I have the same problem and had a technician tell me it was the circuit board. Apparently, when there is a power outage the system tries to reset and the components in the circuit board go bad. This has happened before but the reset button worked. Now he said the TV is worthless unless I send this part to Mitsubishi. This is about a $800 and 6 weeks fix. Also, I was told Mitsubshi is aware of this problem and really don't care. Their customer service is horrible. What I did was claimed it under my homeowner insurance and got replacement cost. It wasn't what I paid for the TV but it helped in buying a new one. If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know.

When TV does not start, and sometimes you hear a clicking noise, that means that the TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Picture & sound go off for 1-2 minutes, then return.

The most likely the TV has a power supply related problem.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Green light covering all picture with no sound on occasion.

In LCD TV such problems occur due to problems in the circuit board. So no option for you to go for repair to your branded company authorized personnal.

Sony LCD 52 inch

This sound like you are having problems with the power supply board. Since you are getting a momentary picture and sound the fuses are good but TVs today have "shorts" and "overvoltage" circuitry build in that will shut it down on errors. Someone knowledgeable in electronics will have to isolate the exact cause.
