When printing documents from my PC documents always sent to queue

Lexmark X4550 Wireless printer

When printing documents from my personal computer, they never print the same time as requested. Documents are always sent to queue and may or may not print. Most times printing does not occur until I re-start my computer. Any ideas what causes this?

Go to control panel, printers. Set your defaults there. You probably have spooling enabled. Uncheck it and your print job will go to the printer, rather than to spooling. Spooling is like rolling the print job up on a spool until the whole thing is processed, then unwinding it to the printer.

Have not got manual for the lexmark interpret s405, so do not understanding controls. Also the printer keeps printing cannot stop it?

You can access the User's Guide from your computer. Just click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > View User's Guide.

If your printer keeps on printing the same document, there might be a lot of print jobs in your queue. You might have sent the same print jobs when you were getting the communication error. Just click on Start > Printers and Faxes > Double click on the Lexmark icon and clear the print jobs in the queue.

If you're frequently experiencing problems communicating with your Lexmark printer, if your printer is connected to your network, make sure that it's getting a good signal from the router. You might also want to update the firmware of your printer. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update.

Wireless printer X4550 has stopped printing. An XL would not print and won't delete from the print queue thus nothing else can be printed. Status is "deleting"

Starting the Installation Log on to the PC as Local Administrator.
Windows 2000: Double-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop. Double-click to open the Control Panel window and then double-click on the icon labelled Printers. Double-click on Add Printer to start the Add Printer Wizard. The dialog below will be displayed.
Windows XP: From the Start menu, select the option Printers and Faxes. Click on the task Add a Printer to start the Add Printer Wizard. The dialog below will be displayed.
pwiz1.jpg Click on the Next button to display the dialog shown below. Ignore the instructions in this particular dialog box because they are incorrect.
pwiz2.jpg The Wizard provides installation options for local and network printers. Select the option Local printer if you are installing drivers for a personal printer (using a USB, serial or parallel connection). If the option Automatically detect my printer is selected, you will see the warning message below.
pwiz2a.jpg If you are installing drivers for a TCP/IP LAN printer, you should also select the option Local printer. For a LAN printer, always ensure that the Automatically detect my printer option is not selected.
The Add Printer Wizard will display the dialog below so that you can specify which port (connector) the printer uses.
pwiz3.jpg For a personal printer, ensure that the button for Use the following port is selected. From the list, select the Local Port to be used -- this is normally the parallel port, LPT1. If you are unsure, please refer to the documentation supplied with your printer or check which type of cable is being used.

Lexmark X4550 Scanner not working

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Hi - my x4550 lexmark printer wont print, can you help?

If your printer won't print when you're making a copy using the Copy button on the operator panel, it could be due to your ink cartridges. Try to re-seat your ink cartridges into the printer and make sure they are properly seated.
If you're not able to print from your computer, it could be a communication problem. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if usb-connected), reboot your computer and unplug/replug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Try to print again.

Printer (x4550) only prints last page of multipage document Sometimes will not print Microsoft word documents - they stay stuck in the queue. How do I get the latest driver for this printer?

  1. Go to the Lexmark Find Drivers/Product Selector page. Be patient, it's horribly slow and sometimes takes a while to load.
  2. Enter Lexmark X4550 under "Search by Model", and click the Search button.
  3. Select your OS from the dropdown (XP, Vista etc.).
  4. Click Download Now.
  5. If you're asked to Save or Run, choose to Run (it keeps you from having to go find the file and double-click it later).
