KBD nonfunctional after sticky key option box pops up.
I have an Acer 3610 that is about 3 years old. I have been using an external MS wireless kybd and mouse on the laptop for about 2 years now. Yesterday my sticky keys options box popped up so I "X" out of it and it went away. Now the KYDB is nonfunctional on either the laptop itself or any other external keyboard I plug into the usb port. The touchpad is still fully functional as is the wireless mouse. The kybd shows up in the control panel and there is a report (sound) when I either plug or unplug the keyboard from the USB port. I can access my external HD as well as most things that don't require a password. I have blownout the keyboard with compressed air. Used a restore point from last week. banged on the back of the computer. I have never seen anything like this, Anybody got any ideas??

If you are running windows vista or windows 7 then you need to go to the power setting on the system, in the advanced options and look for wireless power setting. Turn the when on battery setting to leave the wireless card running instead of turning it off.
Go to display settings, screen saver, power options, balanced power or power saver, and look in there for the wireless adapter.
Because of the tough economic climate, Microsoft is finally installing fully activated MS Office products on some computers cooperating with some brands of laptops to entice buyers. This has only happened in the last 2 months.
For your situation you really only have 2 viable choices. 1. Purchase the key from Microsoft or, 2.You can download OpenOffice.org's free Office Suite. It is fully compatible with all MS Office documents and has programs equivalent to MS Word and Excel. Documents in OpenOffice can also be read by people with fully acitvated versions of MS Office.
There is one other option that I've seen but might not fit your "comfort" level. In my area, people who cannot afford to purchase an MS Office key at full price often post a request ad on the local Craigslist asking for someone to sell them a key from a retail purchase MS Office where 3 computers can be activated but the original purchaser only used one of the activations. Be sure that if you do this, it is the exact version as your trial version, or use the other persons disc to do an upgrade as their key will be tied to their disc in many cases.
Look for an icon on your keyboard that looks like a box or a screen. it is usually on the top number area, somewhere between 2 and 8 most the time. Press the FN key (usually blue) and HOLD it, then, TAP the screen key. It usually has 3 settings: 1. Built in LCD, 2. External, 3. Both LCD and External. Also, depending on your video card settings, the external could DUPLICATE your desktop, or EXTEND your desktop, but that would be adjusted by the video card driver program, not the hardware.
Now by sticky keys do you mean that when a key is pressed that it stays pressed even though your not hitting the key anymore? Or is it that certain keys such as Cntrl, alt, and delete stick. If its the latter you'll need to go into control panel and open up ease of access, from here go to make the keyboard easier to use. Once here there will be an option to have sticky keys, uncheck this box if it is checked. Also there is another option in this menu that says filter keys. If this box is checked uncheck it. Hope this helps.
