Question about Tomtom GO 720 GPS Receiver
Okay. First of all there is a solution, however very complicated and it may brick (make your equipment unusuable due to software corruption). BUT if you are down, here is how you'd go about it:
First things first, you want to know why the tom tom and your crackberry are not communicating correctly. This is because they are operating on different sets of protocols, the tomtom roles on Bluetooth (BT) 2.01a while the blackberry uses BT 2.0. That 1a is tomtom's way of saying "haha ******, buy another phone, thats on our list." Why they'd urge such things, who knows the motifs. It may most likely be that these companies have some kind of affiliation and are trying to increase revenues with bs marketing. Regardless it is a thrifty idea. So the solution:
First of all, I hope your on t-mobile or at&t, because otherwise you wont be able to do it. There are sim card hacks that are very easy to do and cheap to buy. Hacking through USB communications port becomes a little tougher. Either way you want to search the forums.crackberry.com for the sim software called "mogul49." There are others but THIS hacks blackberries with the quickness (5-10 minutes instead of 1hour and possible bricking), and rarely ever bricks your phone. There are tons of other softwares discussed, and they may do the job (maybe not), but mogul49 is the way. Once you have that, you use it to open and enter into the file system on the blackberry, goto the \\bt\sys directory and replace the .bat file with the 2.01a .bat file. You can find this by searching up bluetooth protocol for 2.01a on google, and possible in the crackberry forums if they still have it.
Remember to always backup anything and everything, BEFORE you start any of this. Other than that Good Luck!
