You probavbly didn't re-install the sound driver.. Find the make and model of your motherboard (or soundcard, if a seperate is installed), and go to the manufactors website, and download and install.

How do you power up the sattelite speakers without the subwoofer?

Depends on the type of sound system. Some require you to hook up to the subwoofer then the subwoofer to the sound system, others are just a direct line in to the sound system (in which case simply un hook the sub woofer. If it requires hook ups to the woofer, see if you can turn the volume down on the woofer directly.

External subwoofer doesnt play any sound

Hello,

Are you plugging the sub into a 3.5mm jack or USB?
Have you tried to plug the sub into the speaker jack?
The sub works on another computer?

Bad sub or bad jack?

I hope this helps!

I have a subwoofer and speakers from a surround sound system but the dvd part has blown up can i use the subwoofer and speakers with another unit

sure u can. but depends either your system is active or passive. active means the speakers (or sub) driven by built-in amplifier, so the dvd delivers a low signal to the speakers amp and they amplify the sound for the speakers. passive means the amplifier is built into the dvd and delivers the amplified sound signal to the speakers thru speaker cable. if you tell me model number and brand i can find out what type they are.

Sound comes out of the right speaker with the z4 volume set at minimum. however the sound can be controlled by the windows volume control. When you turn up the volume on the z4 the left speaker works....

open your subwoofer because main system is inside in your subwoofer than clean it with a air blower ..
this happens when dust is inside the system....

I need drivers for philips subwoofer mms171w

Subwoofers are only speakers! You do not need drivers for speakers or woofers. You only need drivers for you sound/audio card/device. Probably you need the audio/sound software to configure the sound system for the "subwoofer and its satellite speakers.

Surround Sound Speaker

It sounds like you need to define the speakers to the PC. Find the icon that controls your Sound Card and dabble with it.

I am trying to hookup my AL subwoofer to my existing comp system.Inserting a wire jack into one of the comp spkrs and subwoofer shuts the sound off.?? It is a FMC0034326 Altec Lansings Subwoofer.Thanks.

You can't just do that. Your sound card needs to have a specific jack just for subwoofers. If you plug it into the speakers, the computer recognizes the subwoofer as a pair of headphones and routes all sound through it. Remember, a subwoofer is not a normal speaker. It only allows a frequency of extremely low sounds (a.k.a. BASS) and won't play anything that you would need a tweeter for.
