Give the clothes more drying time and then remove them as soon as the dryer stops. Over the years, dryers get chipped inside and if damp clothing is allowed to lay on the chipped areas, rust spots will appear.
Also, If you have a lot of iron deposits in your water, you might want to put a filter in your line into your washer.

Rust Problem

that is not the cause of the brown spots, the front or rear felt is worn out, i've seen the rusty inlet and output for 19 yrs and never saw that cause brown spots yet, your clothes will never come into contact with the holes long enough to cause a spot!

I get rust spots on clothes in the washing machine. They weren't there when the clothes were put in the machine. What is causing the rust spots? How can I fix it?

Your inner tub is rusting out and you will need to replace it. We spend a lot of money on our clothes and don't need then stained or damaged by our appliances that we use to launder them. This is a simple repair and something that you can perform yourself.

Just contact us at:
http://www.fixya.com/repair/d499389-accurate_appliance_repair_service with the brand and model number and we can get the correct part out to you asap.

Sounds like you have a bad drum bearing. I would guess that it's grees rather than rust although it will look like rust.

RUST SPOTS

My 10 year old Kenmore (Whirlpool) top load washer is rusting under the top cover. The entire cover from the bleach dispenser all around is rusted under the lid. Periodically, rust dislodges into the tub and stains whites. You would have to treat the rust under the lid. I decided to try, using "Rust-mort" rust treatment on a rag. The rust would all have to be wetted with the rustmort after some scrubbing with a scuff pad. I have not attempted this yet.
I went to OSH and checked lids on new top load washers. The lip on the cheaper models was not properly coated with paint, and I could feel the rough partially exposed metal, which would rust. The more expensive models had a smooth well coated lip on the underside of the cover. Hope this helps.

Rust stains and bleach spots.

I'm sorry but the white spots will be due to bleach. It may be that there was undissolved bleach in the washer after the first load. Maybe some of it came out with the whites and lay in wait in the basket.

I doubt the makers would guarantee anything for 7 years, so no free basket or installation is likely. Seems there is a chip in the enamel and dampness / water from the previous wash days before sits there collecting iron as rust particles.

For the time being you could try rinsing the machine out before the first load. That might prevent the rust marks or reduce them.
