My sansa clip will charge, but when i plug it in to any usb port on my computer, the mp3 player says "connected!" but it doesn't show up in my computer, doesn't show up in the device list in WMP11, doesn't show a message on the task bar saying it was connected, and i don't have a USB option on the settings menu. someone please help! i already have 80 songs and room for plenty more, but i am getting sick of the music on this thing.

Connection and battery charging

Try to turn it off while connected, mine works normally and I can turn it on to use it while connected to the pc cable and then it doesn't communicate with the pc, or charge I think. When I turn it off it goes blank for a moment and then shows the USB symbol and communicates with the computer.
