Check that you are using the correct grade of oil in the gear box. IF you have it is possible that the synchro ring for 2nd gear is failing and not energising the 2nd gear hub. That means box out for a rebuild

what does box out for a rebuild mean lol. and my bro said something along the lines of what u said

The only way to fix a failure in a gear box id to remove it from the car and strip it down Then you will be able to see exactly is causing the fault and what repairs are necessary

SOURCE: gears grind when shifting

Sounds like the clutch needs adjusting or repairs. If there is more than 1 inch of free movement at the pedal then it needs adjusting.

SOURCE: clutch/transmission problem

When the car is sitting idling, and the clutch is not depressed,it makes a grinding noise because the input shaft of the transmission is being forced to turn by the clutch, which is engaged, and even though the trans is in neutral, the input shaft is still turning, and this is called "neutral roll over" noise, and some of the assemblies inside the trans are freewheeling around. The noise goes away when the clutch pedal is being depressed down, because the input shaft of the transmission is no longer turning. So it does sound like an internal transmission problem. It is still possible for the throwout bearing to be bad,and it can be checked when the trans is removed from the vehicle,Remove the throwout bearing from the trans input sleeve, and press down on the bearing flange and turn it at the same time.It should feel smooth and free.If it catches or feels gravelly, then the bearing is bad and that could be your noise. Also, turn the input shaft of the trans and same thing,if it's smooth and free or if gravelly feeling......Good luck.

SOURCE: 1999 Grand Voyager transmission not shifting into high gear

Do yourself a favor & get it scanned at transmission shop, or dealer & fixed as needed,(within reason) . Delaying it could cost lots of money. A rebuilt is about $1500-$2000.

I have a 5900 ford tractor,it is hard to put it in gear( grinds). What needs to be done so that you can change gears without it grinding?

Usually it means you need a little more clutch adjustment and/or a lower engine rpm. Your synchronizers could be bad. The fluid level can be low, but overfilling on some series will flood the rear brakes with lube.

On some models the pto must slow down or stop spinning if an implement has momentum and you need to shift. There are free wheeling pto adapters which allow the pto to operate at a different rpm than the implement.

The high rpm on an automatic trans can result in shifting problems when changing gears.

Manual transmission grind

Be sure to depress the clutch to the floor when shifting. Sounds like you're wearing down your synchros for those gears. As far as solutions, the only actual solution is to get your transmission fixed. You can, however, "make it ride" a little longer by synchronizing the rpms yourself using the gas pedal.

My '03 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T Manual Trans grinds when shifting into second gear?

the synchros are not DIY, when they start to go it will grind when the RPMs are higher like getting on a highway, you can try double clutching and see if that helps.

1993nissan pickup 4x4 ****** rebuilt still grinds sometimes going into second is their a way to grease it to stop the grinding

There are a couple of things that can cause gears to grind, one could be it is not synchronizing properly but the most likely cause is your clutch is not fully disengaging. If the adjustment is to low down it may not completely release and keep the input shaft spinning. Check the travel of the clutch rod and make sure it is fully disengaging the clutch.

My third gear grinds when i shift to third it doesnt grind when i double clutch up all the time but it grinds on the down shift double clutch or not how can i solve this?

Has the transmission been serviced? A transmission oil change and lubricant additive may help, however, it sounds as though you have a 3rd gear synchronizer going bad. Verify the shift linkage is not worn and is secure at the shifter and transmission be for spending any cash. If the linkage is good and the fluid change does not help after 150 miles, you might want to visit your favorite transmission shop.
Good luck and let me know.

My shift grinds when shifting to third every other gear is fine it still pops in it doesnt sound to noisy but it dont sound to good either it dont grind all the time when i double clutch up but it always...

It sounds like an internal transmission problem The syncronizer that slows down or speeds up the gear to make a smooth engagement has wore down. There is no easy fix. The transmission has to come out of the vehicle and be repaired or replaced with a good used or rebuilt one.

I have a 2002 chevy cavalier z22 standard tranny, 2.2l. Ive been getting this grinding noise in the low RPM'S of first and second gear, only when i keep it at 1200-1700 RPM's. The sound only comes in those...

I have a 2004 that did that, im sorry to say this but you are going to need a new transmission eather really soon or a lil ways down the road but you need a new one the problem is your syncronisers in your transmission are starting to go bad witch is what alows your gears to come together at the right timing now you can avoid grindin your gears by stayin out of the rpms that it grinds in eather high or low but eventually you will need a new transmission bc eventually all of your gears will begin to grind like that and then eventually you just wont even be able to get the car in gear not due to the clutch going bad but just bc the constant grindin of the gears will cause your gears in your transmission to go out completly

Gears grind at high rpms

Your clutch is most likely over traveling from centrifigal force at high RPM, go to a performance aftermarket clutch kit.
