1 Insert your driver disk into the CD/DVD ROM drive. The disk should automatically boot. Then follow the on-screen instructions. This usually entails clicking on "Install" or "Install Sound Driver."
2 Download the sound driver specific to your card and Windows XP. Driver websites include Drivers Kit, XP-Drivers and Driver XP. Locate the make and model of your card. Click on the manufacturer and then select the "Download" link.
3 Double-click on the sound driver. The application will go through a setup process. Follow the on-screen instructions.
1 Click on the "Start" menu. Select "Control Panel," then scroll to "Add Hardware" and click to open. Sometimes, the automatic installation does not work properly. You will then need to install the sound drivers manually.
2 Read and use the "Add Hardware Wizard." Click the "Next" tab. Windows XP will scan your computer for components.
3 Scroll down the list to "Audio Drivers" or "Sound Drivers." Then click "Next." Select the "Finish" tab. Another window will appear.
4 Select the "No, Not This Time" option on the "Hardware Update Wizard." Click "Next." Choose the "Install from a List or Specific Location" button. Then click the "Next" tab again.
5 Place the sound driver disk in the CD/DVD ROM. Point the "Search Option" to your CD/DVD ROM or download folder. Click the "Include This Location to Search" box. Type in the path to your download folder or select the "Browse" option. Search through the computer to choose your download application. Click "Next."
6 Wait until the file installs. This takes approximately two to three minutes. Turn up your speakers and reboot your computer
