Question about Sony Graphics Cards

Multiple monitor problem

I am running windows xp home edition with a nvidia gforce4 mx440 vid card which came with computer (dell). I am trying to run 2 monitors as I do on my laptop, but the settings window is only showing one monitor and no option to extend.
Card has a svideo on it too. Should I not be able to hookup a tv monitor through the svideo and use as a 2nd monitor as my laptop does??? Thanks for your help

1: First check wether your graphics card is able to support 2 monitors. Not all built-in ones can do that.
2: If you re sure it should be able to work, try restarting the pc after you connect the monitor, it should open a popup and ask what you want to do.
3: If not try updating your drivers and repeat step 2.

As for the tv as a monitor, most digital tv's are able to do that, yes.

I hope this helps,
Yannick

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop that was originally Windows XP (maybe Media Center Edition, I'm not sure) and had Windows 7 Ultimate on it. I had to wipe the hard drive and I downgraded to Windows

Hello the driver can be downloaded here:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/xps-m1710

Or here at nvidia:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winxp_179.48_beta.html

Please check for other drivers missing in the device manager.
Check also for the right driver, because here is 2 different ones.

Try the nvidia page first, this should work for you.

Good luck

Windows 7 installs my dual video card as single video

Dear Friend,
According to my research that I have done, that particular card is build in based on nVIDIA GeForce4 MX440 with AGP8X core technology. The following link below will take you directly to the download page for this particular driver. I notice that they have only available for Windows XP 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

Problem installation video card

Hello Virna, i have that exact graphics card and dell GX270 desktop here at home, tho it has been awhile since i removed the Nvidia PCI card for a more favorable AGP card. From what i remember, first check your BIOS (hit F2 on startup) and select integrated devices, scroll down and make sure your default video output is either PCI (if available) or AUTO) exit saving changes. If that yields no result. Plug in a second monitor to your old integrated video output, if you can view windows after bootup from there, then you can install the proper Nvidia display driver for windows Xp (available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.19_whql.html ). After installing, right click on the desktop, select properties, display settings tab, and make sure the Geforce card is the main monitor and the desktop monitor. Click apply, unplug the integrated VGA output, and restart. Hope this helps.

Overclock MX440 64MB in Vista

to be honest, the MX440 is rather outdated, especially with only 64mb sdr, to make gaming experience better graphically, the minimum card you will need would be 256mb ddr and no doubt windows vista would look better also.
