Question about Philips Magnavox 42MF521D/37 Television

1 Answer

Left speaker port shorted out

This is a tricky problem, so I am sorry if I lose you.

I have a 37" Magnavox with an external speaker frame that has a left and right speaker inside that attaches to the bottom of the tv itself. Both speakers work, there are 4 cords that attach to the TV, a red and black for the left, and a red and black for the right. I know both speakers inside the frame work because if i plug them both into the right port on the TV, they both work. My problem is, the left port on the TV doesn't work. So if I have the left speaker plugged into the left port, I get no sound. If i plug both into the right port, they both work, but I am only hearing what is meant to come out of the right speaker.

Here is an example of what I am not getting... If you listen to headphones and pay attention, you will hear some beats in the right speaker, and some beats in the left speaker. My left side speaker port doesn't work, therefore I am only hearing what is meant for the right speaker and not the left, so I am not hearing every sound and it is like listening to headphones with only the right one in.

I play a lot of games and you can tell enemy direction from sounds, explosions on your left or right, gunfire on your left or right, I only hear to the right. I would really like to know what the part is called so I can have a repairman come out and replace it.

The TV is no longer under warranty, only had a year warranty and I have had it for about 15 months now.

Philips sound problem

NO sound? If so check to see if set works with a DVD etc connected to a rear input and has sound or not.

Also if no sound check in menu to see speakers not set to off or to external speaker connection if set has that.

Magnavox LCD tv external speaker

The jack you describes here "Digital Ouput Device To" means, you can connect these jacks to the output of a digital device, such as DVD or so. It is meant for to get signal into the TV, not ot out.
HDMI [High Definition Multimedia Interface] is a type of connection, which the TV an be connected to any HDMI device from outside. Both the above said are, signal in to TV connections. Not out.
If you want to connect this TV to any amp or any other external audio devices; look for any audio out option is there.

i dont see how a usb port can actually be related to your sound but maybe the best solution right now is to simply replace your usb port as it might have been damaged by your external usb keyboard
