Epson 7800 printhead faulty

I pulchaced an Epson 7800 printer 2 years ago. It has been an excllent printer and was not over used.. I was having print colour problems, so I called a reputable company to come and repair it . I was told today that the print head is broken.. and it will cost €600 to relace and fit part ... Are ther any cheaper alternatives available to me or is this part covered under guarantee.

SOURCE: Epson cx11nf printing problem

on the right hand side of the printer towards the back, but on the right hand portion of the printer there is a tab you can open it is about 3/4 inch wide and 2 inches long. After you pop the tab off, there is a handle. Pull the handle out SLOWLY all the way. This will wipe off the printing head like a windshield wiper. Insert the handle back in slowly, and whallah!!!

Fixed me real good!!!

SOURCE: Hi my epson r285 with ciss is leaving ink blotches

It might be caused by waste ink at bottom plate around head sprayer. For some CISS (bottle) design, ink will flow to head, and then flow to pad, when printer off. So, you must close respiratory hole at bottle when printer is not used. For cleaning, turn off printer (unplug power) when head is not in parking position. Move head to center. Put wet tissue (with cleaner or hot water) at top of pad (at head cleaning mechanics). Move head to parking position. So bottom plate contact with tissue. Wait for 10 minutes, repeat 3 times. Check nozzle.

SOURCE: My printer will not recognise non epson cartridges

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!! How you were able to use generic is amazing. I was not able to do that!

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

TRYING PURCHASING GENUINE, and see what happens? This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Printing very faded

if you have not used the printer for over a year, the ink in the printhead must have dried blocking the nozzles. you can remove it and dip in a little warm water to dissolve the dried ink, if this doen't solve the problem, you will have to replace the printhead

Printer wont work just feeds paper straight through

First try reinstalling driver software on your computer.

Either use printer CD or download from website:

Epson Driver Download

Epson America, Inc. - Support

If problem persists after downloading software, then that means that ink had clogged the printheads after drying up on old installed cartridges.
In that case either order a new printhead from Epson, or replace the printer.

Cleaning or replacing printhead / hose

Buy them at a official EPSON service center or throw away the printer and buy a HP.
Actual EPSON printers uses 5 ml ink cartridges for each color and black. HP printers has the same volume cartridges but there are only 2, tricolor and black.
If a HP printing head becomes clogged (don't worry, it almost never happens), just throw away the cartridge and install another (the print head comes with the ink cartridge). If a EPSON print head becomes clogged you have no other choice than buying another printer because EPSON's print heads are expensive and become discontinued 12 months after the printer model was launched to the market.

Also, HP Printers are cheaper than those from EPSON and offers excellent print quality on any paper. Compare a 10 years old HP printer with actual EPSON's and the HP has the sharpest black printing. The color is another story.

Poor printing quality with my Epson stylus C 66

If it sat for a long time, then  some of the nozzels are probably clogged.  Running the clean feature helps, but it probably won't work a hundred percent.  The best way is to disassemble the whole thing, take the printhead out, and clean the nozzels with a sopping wet cloth.  That takes some doing, and there's no manual to tell you how...you just gotta tinker till you can get it apart.

If that still doesn't help, it's probably shot.
