Question about RCA HD61LPW42 61" Rear Projection HDTV

Replaced color wheel(RCA) now picture looks polarized and fuzzy.

I have a RCA HD61LPW42 TV, I replaced the color wheel but now the picture looks polarized and alittle fuzzy. I did read on here about removing a 2 wire jumper but I couldn't find it anywhere where he said to look. Any other ideas out there on fixing this problem?
Thanks
June

inside what panel? plus if that doesn't work what else can I do. I was told that only works if you have a bearingless color wheel which I don't know if I have or not...colr wheel number is 212184

Is it normal for the inverter to go at the same time as the color wheel?

Hey there! thanks for using Fixya.com!!

You probably replaced a bearing colored wheel, and maybe it was replaced with a bearingless. Try to look inside your TV, at the back of the engine or the light engine...it is the silver box in front and left of the color wheel... there must be a jumper...that connects the 2 wires from outside or coming out towards the bottom, just recessed little hole. You should remove the jumper if the color wheel was replaced with the air bearing type. Just be careful to remove it, just a bit gently with a pair of nose pliers, and pull it out very very slowly.

I hope it will restore a normal color veiew but maybe there will be some other adjustments that you need to do. I suggest that you check the manual for further information and clarification.

However, if its still doesn't work, I advised that you should contact your technician who specialized with, or if you still have the warranty card, it should be covered and you will not lose any penny. I know it is very simple and handy to do but, we need to be careful on this, we dont want to do more unnecessary things.

Good luck! cheers! don't forget to mark!!!
I hope I helped you a bit! take care!

The jumper is on Samsung, not on RCAs the Jumper is locate on the board behind the color wheel assembly, but that is a different TV.

Moreover when it is the jumper then red and blue colors are reversed, not polarized.

In your case sounds more like the color wheel is not mounted correctly.

Next thing which you need to replace will be inverter .....
if inverter is bad you will find this kind of problem......
but replacing inverter is expensive repair .....if your tv is more than 5 years old go for new one rather than wasting money in it ......

yes it is due to bad inverter you are facing this problem.... it is possible that inverter and color wheel fail at the same time....since you replaced color wheel .....need to replace inverter .....

RCA HD61LPW42 - no picture

I haven't worked on an RCA DLP but have on Samsung DLP, based on your description it sounds like the color wheel is bad. Take the back off and turn on TV make sure its not a fan making the noise ,but most likely its the "wheel" it is inside the light engine probably right next to where the lamp is plugged in. If the whine comes from this area definitely the wheel.

Color is wrong after color wheel replacement

Hello,

You probably replaced a bearing colorwheel, and it was replaced with a bearingless. If you look inside the TV on the back of the light engine (the silver box in front of and to the left of the color wheel), there should be a jumper (that connects two wires coming out) toward the bottom of it in a recessed little hole. That jumper should be removed if the color wheel was replaced with the air bearing type. Just grasp it gently with a pair of needle nose pliers, and pull it out slowly.

This should restore a normal color operation, but there might be some other adjustments that need to be made if it doesn't clear it up completely.

I hope this helps you...

RCA DLP TV needs color wheel replaced

I used the internet and found others who had the same problem. Two individuals had a brief description on how to replace the color wheel in a DLP TV. Three small torque screws and a ribbon connector was all that was need for removal; once the access panel on the back was opened. I would guess that this process is the same for all DLP TV's, with some small variations!

Turning on but no picture at all

I would check to see if the lamp is actually comming on before anything else. The color wheel won't cause a loss of picture. Here is a link to purchase a suitable replacement lamp for the TV. It is 300 dollars less than the RCA version. http://www.partstore.com/Part/Thomson/RCA/HD61LPW42/Lighting+Technologies+International/LTI/260962RL/New.aspx

Intermittent picture

Most likely your lamp needs to be replaced as that will cause the intr. picture issue. The color wheel will also have to be replaced. The color wheel is only available with the light engine which is part# 263223 and the lamp part #260962
