Hi guys
All that needs to be done is a firmware upgrade.
This can however only be done by a BenQ Approved Service Provider because if the person doing this makes a balls-up the Projector will be dead as a doornail.

Be sure to check the filters and make sure you have good airflow thru the proj. Cleaning filters solved our temp shutdown problem.

Bought a new XGA projector.../
It appears from researching that the native res for the Benq is too low 800x600 so I will never get a good picture even though most of the images I install are at least 10meg originals. Also the new projector will work in a bright room the Benq will not.

Hi I am Vortash check the lamp housing is secure as most units have a safety switch on them to disconect the projector from the supply while a bulb is inserted .. I fthis is secure and the fuse is not blown I suspect the lamp or the ballast .. look for dry joints on the board for the lamp or unseated plugs other than that unless your friend can trace the psu switch mode power supply back to it's individual outputs and check that it is working correctly your going to have to take it to an engineer sorry .. hope this helps Regards Vortash

go into the menu and reset the settings to factory default. after that, select computer again and see if it recognizes it. you may need to change the resolution to match the laptop.
