SOURCE: Black Cartridge just changed, but still says K-toner low

The only way to clear the message is to wait until the the display shows XXXX Toner Out, then change the cartridge and the message will clear itself.

SOURCE: Black Toner Cartridge

Open the front door, look to the left for the interlock, insert a screw driver or similar into lock.

Carousel can now be rotated by hand.

I believe you can also rotate the carousel to a particular toner via the panel and driver.

SOURCE: cant change ink cartridge - says needs mk toner,

I struggled with this and it sent me nearly mad. Epson need their heads read for not giving the instructions either on the toner box or inside the printer. What customer care? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has felt like putting a sledge hammer through the ******* thing.

The other answer on this Fixya site says use the printer driver. That's not right for my computer. There is nothing on the driver about it.

To get the correct toner cartridge to face you when you open the front door... use the menu screen on the printer itself and the 4 buttons that are in a wheel shape. By default you are in the Information menu. Scroll down to Reset menu, using the bottom button. Press the right button (with the return arrow) to select this menu. The first visible option is 'Clear warning' which is a useful one to get rid of the endless warnings! But instead of selecting that, scroll down through this Reset menu until you come to 'Change Toner C', which is followed by M then K then Y.

In case you're wondering which is which - they are confusingly not in the same order as the colours on the printer. Cyan (blue), Magenta (red), K Black, Y Yellow.

Hope this saved the sledge hammer, and hope Epson one day think...

SOURCE: I want to change the colour toner cartridge but it

Assuming you are using Windows:

Method 1: Using Software.
=====================
Go to Start Menu
Open 'Control Panel'
Open 'Printers & Faxes'
Right-click on 'Epson AL C900'
Select 'Properties'
Select 'Optional Settings' tab
Select 'Printer Settings'
The option at the bottom lets you select which toner you wish to change.

Method 2: Mechanical Solution.
=========================
Switch the printer off
Open the front door
Just inside the door, on the left, just above half-way down (to the left of the toner-changing aperture), look for the following:
A horizontal rectangular hole with four raised plastic posts (2 above / 2 below). Behind the hole is the end of a hollow plastic rod.
Use a broad-bladed screwdriver to push this spring-loaded rod about a centimetre into the machine. That releaces the ratchet and the cartridge carousel can be rotated anti-clockwise by hand.

I changed the cartridge in my oce fx3000 copier and I still get the message "change drum" and it won't work

The toner cartridge is a completely different unit from the drum unit. The drum unit is replaced separately, and is good for about 25,000 pages. The toner cartridge contains the toner powder. The drum actually fuses the toner powder to the paper.

Why Oki b4600 after changing drum devolves toner empty

The toner cartridge is only a supply chamber. The cartridge simply dumps toner into the feed hopper in the drum. When you change the drum the feed hopper is empty and it is likely that the cartridge dropped the last of it supply into the hopper - ergo it is now empty. I recommend shaking the toner back into the cartridge before separating the cartridge from the drum unit when changing them

Is the "change drum soon" message instructing to

This indicator is for the drum unit, not the toner cartridge. The drum unit is the assermbly that the toner cartridge is inserted into when being replaced. The drum unit is replaced about every 18,000 pages so after about 5 to 10 toners have been replaced.
Here is a picture of the drum unit.

Solid black line on the right hand side of the page. will changing the the toner cartridge fix it

Probably NOT the toner cartridge. More likely to be the drum cartridge. Pull out the toner/drum cartridge assembly and remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit. Now look carefully at the drum. This is the greenish/Blueish colored cylinder. If you see the black line going around the drum on one edge then that will be your proof that it is the drum unit. You can try cleaning the corona wire by sliding the little blue tab there on top of the drum unit back and forth a few times.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Brother HL 2040 prints extremely light and seems to smudge? Just changed out the tone cartridge and no change.

I'm not sure if the drum is going out or not. How many toners have you used? The drum is rated at 12,000 pages and the toner is supposed to yeild 2500 pages, so 4 or 5 toners ought to finish the drum. Did you clean the area around the drum? I don't think you're supposed to touch it, but I've never had to touch my 7240 in 4 years, except to change the toner.

The good news is the toner will fit in more than one Brother machine and the printers are inexpensive. It almost makes buying a new machine more economical than a drum :-}

The HL printer is Manufacturer Discontinued, the new ones use a 360 series drum and toner, and the MFC's (7220 etc.) are about $200 vs. $116 for the drum. Hmmm.

Might be time to upgrade.

After changing my toner cartridge it tells me I need to change it again this has happened a number of times. I thought it might be a bad cartridge but this is not the case I have changed the cartridge 4...

This may be because of the drum. The drum holds the toner cartridge. On the back of the drum is a green little thing that moves back and forth, just like on a zip lock bag. Move that back and forth over and over again. If this still does not work, I would recommend calling Brother and maybe you can get it replaced if it is still under warranty. There may be a problem with the electronics as well, so the best bet would be to send it to Brother.

Brother MCF-7340 first time toner replacement

If this model comes with the drum separately of the cartridge, only replace the cartridge. There's no need to change it every time. until prints start to get lines or dots. Don't expose the drum to light too much.

Aculaser C2600 "clean sensor" message won't clear. Have just replaced K toner and it printed about 300 copies then stopped with the message. opened cover and closed it but after calibrating the message...

This is a common characteristic which arises from using improperly remanufactured toner cartridges.
Otherwise it is a bad Epson original one - which is highly unusual!

When the C2600 runs through its calibration it prints strips of each colour on the transfer belt which are sensed for density. You will get a "clean sensor message" if the reading for any of the strips drops below a certain value.

The first thing to do is to depress the clean sensor lever behind the front cover several times . If that doesn't fix it I would advise you to remove each cartridge in turn (go to reset menu and scroll down to change toner) and inspect the toner on the surface of the roller. If there is any form of "sheen" then you'll need to replace the cartridge.

It is possible to adjust the doctor blade if you know what you're doing but be careful as there are shims on each side. Loosening and moving the blade bar towards the roller slightly, refixing and then turning the side cog to rotate the roller can sometimes resolve problem. Not a good idea really unless you're in an emergency.
There are some good remanufactured cartridges and bad ones. If you want to avoid this buy genuine Epson cartridges - I know they're expensive but what does the down time cost!

Prints documents but there is a grey hue on all the pages

You might try changing the toner cartridge. While you have the toner drum cartridge out, clean the carona wire by moving the blue tab on the drum to the left and right several times. Be sure to store the tab all the way to the left before you reinsert the drum/toner cartridge assembly.

CC and drum Icon will not go out after changing toner cartridge

This Machine needs a copy cartridge. Replacing the toner will not clear it. The copy cartridge is the drum unit which is why the drum light is on. With the new copy cartridge a chip on the cartridge will reset the counter and clear the "CC" and the drum light. If you cant find this I can send you one. I believe on this model it is user replaceable.
