I bought my son xbox live for christmas , cannot find receipt though ... as from yesterday the games have a large groove round them and are now unreadable ... someone said it could be the lazer ... can someone help me please with this .... im a desperate single mum needing help for my son ... thankyou
If the ring is on the outside edge of the Game disc, the console was moved during operation. the disc tips and hits the disc tray on the outside edge, you should see a scuff on the tray as well.
you can buy a disc cleaner that can remove the scuff from the disc, you will need the type that actually removes a layer from the disc or you can take it to a video store and have them clean or resurface the disc.

unfortunately, after doing some research, i have determined that unless the problem is that you don't have xbox live gold, in which case you wouldn't be able to play online period, your son needs to make a new gamer profile. It should work afterwards. I need more details as to exactly what happens before i give you a definitive answer, though.
I have had similar problems like this with other games. Firstly i would make sure that other games work in your sons xbox because it could be that there is a problem with the lense inside the xbox which reads the information off the disk. If other games are working then i would take the game back to walmart (As long as you still have the receipt) regardless of the fact that it is open and either ask for a refund or an exchange because if the game has never worked its not you fault. Hope this helps Thanks
Hi Mom, the bad news is your sons X-box is in need of an x-clamp replacement. It happens when the x-box gets too hot and causes the clamps to warp. The good news is that it is a fairly common problem and is usually relatively inexpensive to fix. I would recommend finding a game store who repairs these in your area.
Well I've been having problems as well especially with Call Of Duty 4. I'm 14 and I was told its simply the Christmas overload that everyone has gone out and bought the system, games, and xbox live. Give it a month or so and see how it works out. Also, if you have a router, try connected the ethernet cord (if u have one) to the modem directly......it may work but dont take my word for it. Also, be sure you have DSL or Comcast. Good Luck.
That is a very odd problem. Unless you have a special warranty, the unit will not get replaced for a new one until it cannot be fixed by a tech. You have to write or e-mail Microsofts contact in your manual and complain about the games getting destroyed by the Xbox. They may want to see copies of the receipts for the games too, but be very firm with them or they will not take you serious.
