Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

The screen goes blank, wii emits buzzing noise.

In the middle of play the screen will go blank and the wii makes this buzzing noise. It is not possible to switch off the console using the button on the front and we have to take out the cables from the back of the console. This has happened twice in 2 days - so far - after 9 months trouble free playing. Please help!

This makes sense but the wii had only been on for 10 minutes before it happened on both occasions.

Refrain from playing for a few days.

its what you call a black screen of death. it will keep happening until your wii stops if you dont refrain from playing for a while and obey the health/safety rules (sometimes the wiis pass becuase the health/safety rules hide the bsod) [health/safety rules: take a ten - minute break every hour.] BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR WII IT IS VERY FRAGILE IF IT GETS A BSOD!!!!!!! {fragile=easily damaged INTERNALLY}

if you didn't already return it, it might just be a wi-fi problem. sometimes no matter what, wi-fi will screw with your wii.

Loaded game = loud buzzing

After removing the casing, all that need to be done was loosen (yes, loosen) a screw on the inner frame about a quarter turn. This allowed a little movement to the frame and stopped the buzzing.

Wii makes a horrible noise while loading or ejecting the disc

Hello my name is Tim Ehrhart, I repair 360's and have had this problem with them and there problem is that the magnet that holds the disk in place gets stuck and makes a grinding noise that sounds horrid. Please leave feedback as I am new and trying to build a great rep. Thank You.

Sounds like you may have an overheating issue. Make sure your system is well ventilated (have plenty of space on all sides). If you still have problems, try buying a cooling fan add-on for your system.

Also, when using component video cables and a WidescreenTV: Go into the Wii's system settings, under Screen, change TV Resolution to HDTV (480p) instead of Standard TV (480i) and change to Widescreen (16:9) under Widescreen Settings.

Good luck!

PS: In order to shut off the system when having problems, try holding the front power button for about 5 to 10 seconds.

Wii makes squeaking/chirping noise

This is a hardware failure. Sending it Nintendo is the only option. Unless you think you have the skills to repair it yourself. Here is the link to Nintendo

If you want to repair it yourself you need a wii dvd drive. Any version works.

My Wii makes an annoying buzzing sound

I think thats normal. If your really annoyed about it, Play some music that cancels out the noise. I'm sure the in-game music your playing should go over the buzzing noise.

Wii will play gamecube games but not wii games

I heard something on youtube about that. It seems that the disc is hitting on the case so you would have to take it apart and fix it.
