I am having same problem with 515 hp pentium 4.......hp support decided my power supply was good and my motherboard was not. I am looking for a non-hp motherboard as the original had too short of a life. Power supply had been recently replaced so this hp e749c has been trouble. I need to rescue data on the hard drive so I have to do something. Help will be appreciated.

Hi im josh in cebu phils. friend if it is like that. two main problems you need to look unto. first is the power supply. try to check if your power supply works well that could gve enough power to your motherboard. or 2nd the motherboard it self has a problem.it maybe damage or what.or there some times the processor and the motherboard is not compatible if it happens it would be the same. good luck i hope i help you. try to vote me if u satisfied so that i ll knw if it is success.

I'm no proffessional but when I have this problem I first think what may have caused it. Since your fan starts and then stops the power supply must at least be working. So it may have been something like your static electricity confusing the motherboard or something weird like that. It could also be that you tried to boot it up with some connection with the negative plugged in the positive and visa versa...that shouldn't cause much of a problem but you may want to research your motherboard and make sure it has the safety mechanism.

Anyways, I think the best thing you can do is remove any extra memory ram sticks you have and unplug all USB and the PW SW and all that and even the main power supply and then plug it all back in. Good Luck

Sir i am using asus motherboard(ASUS M2N68-AM SE2) in my pc, when i switch on my pc the processor fan and smps fan is rotating for few seconds(4 to 6 Seconds) and it stopped rotating. 1. the monitor shows...

remove all the ram from motherboard and switch on the system and see it is working or not like just on and fan are rotating and the smps fan is also working and your system is giving beep sound for ram.try with other smps also some time problem with power supply also. Remove the connector of power switch and restart switch and directly try to on from shorting the connector with the help of pen or screw driver point. Some time faulty switch also give problem. Just try all these possibilities.

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks.
Have a good day.

I have a D946GZIS motherboard. It does not boot whenever i switch it on and press the power button. Also the power led is not glowing. What must be the problem..? pls help ..

Starting at the begining. The wall socket, the plug, the cable, the power socket on the SMPS at the back of your PC, the SMPS, the Output connectors from the SMPS to the motherboard. The power LED not glowing means that the power is not reaching the motherboard. Disconnect and reconnect the power connector on the motherboard. start. No start. Does the fan on the SMPS work? If yes then all components before the SMPS are doing fine. If no then most likely connection socket power cable to the SMPS may be the culprit. This has a lot of load on it. The PC and the monitor both take power from this socket. the answer to your problem lies in the answer to my question whether the fan starts in the SMPS or not. If yes then there is no output from the SMPS and the SMPS need to be given the due attention and if no then there is no power input to the SMPS and various cables and socketc need that attention. In case you need to and can remove and open the SMPS look for bulged or burst capacitors. If found, replace them. Those round cylindrical components.

Cpu fan noisy /chip fan fail

You must buy a new CPU Fan. You can get them HERE or a zillion other places on the Internet. You need a Socket 939 type fan that will handle your cpu speed. If you need help installing it, it may be in the manual. You can read the manual by clicking on the picture of your MB at the top of this post and then scrolling down.

Hope that fixed ya...
