Question about Olympus MJU 300 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Daughter plugged a phone charger in camera, now it doesn't work

We recently bought a new camera and gave this one to our daughter. She then plugged a phone charger into the mains connector "to charge it up" when I had already removed the Li-ion battery and put it on charge. Now the camera won't turn on and I fear she may have blown something inside. Does anybody know if this has happened before and can be easily fixed?
All advice gratefully received.

The broken camera is our old one (about 3 years old) so the warranty has expired. The battery is fine as it wasn't in the camera when my daughter connected the phone charger to it. I am hoping she isn't the first person who has made this error and there is an easy (cheap) fix.

    Cheers

Hello there! thanks for using Fixya.com!!

I suggest that you try another battery or better yet a new one just to troubleshoot. Maybe a damaged occured with the battery. Hope that your camera would be fine. A short circuit happened of course if we use a different kind of charger that are not applicable or not compatible with. Pls check your warranty card as what you told that it is brand new and for sure it is still under warranty. We just hope that they will cover that kind of incident. I know it can be fixed but we don't want to waste any penny. so make sure that your warranty card is still with you.

hope this will help you! cheers!! don't forget to mark! thanks!

Bought a Nikon Coolpix S3000 (orange) for my daughter after Christmas. It just stopped working one day; wouldn't charge, no lights or come on. The battery it came with is a Nikon lithium ION Battery...

Read page 16 of the manual. Do not use any other charger with this camera. Are you sure you have the battery inserted correctly? When trying to charge, does the green light blink? If so, when it stops blinking and turns off, the battery should be fully charged. Do not attempt to turn the camera on while the charger is trying to charge the battery.

Cant find driver vivitar 3350B!!!

If the camera uses a memory card, just get a card reader and use it to download the pictures.

Camera won't turn on unless charger attached.

Well in that case either the battery is faulty, or the charging circuit.. Only a new battery will tell. This is a common thing with batteries.

How to save files from a drowned digital camera?

If you have taken that many pictures then you more than likely have a memory card in the camera. Just open the memory card door and take out the card. Then use a Card Reader which you can buy anywhere then you plug that into a computer and it will bring up the photos. make sure you gave the card plenty of time to dry out inside and you should be fine.

Hope that Helps,
Caleb

Camera won't turn on.

Mine had the same problem.  I consulted http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/ and it said to use rechargeable batteries only.  The entry claimed that alkaline batteries, even if they're brand new, don't have sufficient power for more than a few pictures and may not even be powerful enough to turn the camera on.  I was dubious, but I tried putting in a pair of fully charged rechargeables and, by Gum, the camera was suddenly working again.  So before junking the camera, try investing 20 bucks in a battery charger and a pair of AA rechargeables and see if that fixes it.
