Question about Canon PowerShot A700 Digital Camera

Video shooting went from color to b/white - how do I get it back?

All my video shooting on the Canon Powershot A700 has been in color up until now, all of a sudden it went to black & white. How do I get it back? I've gone through all the menus for all the different modes and can't seem to latch onto the right menu to change my B/W back to color.

Thanks, but still having trouble. Here's my sequence: I turn on the camera, switch to video mode, press the Function button, and all I get on the left side icons are "drive mode", fps, and 640x480 icons. I have gone through all the modes and done the function button thingy, but so far have not come across the "My Color Mode". The only thing relating to color, was Color Accent. Need further help and step by step instructions please. Thanks. Aw.

Press the Function button and scroll down to middle (fourth) icon on the left side of the LCD, the My Color mode. Is it set for BW or C? Use the left/right arrow key to select OFF. Press Function again.

OK. When you are in the video mode, does the movie mode icon show just a silhouette of an old time movie camera, or is there an A (color accent) or S (color swap) included in the icon? If there is an A or S, select the icon and use the left/right arrows until the letter disappears. Then press the Function button.

Hi, I have a Canon Powershot A700 digital camera and I am facing a problem with it. The 'Mode Switch' button, which changes the mode from Shoot/Record mode to Play/View mode is not working....

If you have the manual for this camera turn to page 15.
This tells you how to switch between Shooting Mode and Playback Mode.
This is achieved simply by pressing the DISP button.
This button is located below and to the left of the FUNC/SET button.
Pressing DISP repeatedly toggles between Shooting Mode and Playback Mode.
I would suggest you try these steps with your Mode Switch in both positions alternately.

Press the FUNC/SET button. Use up/down to select ]My Color] (the fourth item from the top). Use left-right to select BW. To get back to "normal," select OFF.

It's in the "Shooting in a My Colors Mode" section in the manual.

How do I set my canon powershot a720 IS to take pictures in black and white?

Press the FUNC/SET button. Use cursor-up/down to select the fourth item along the left edge of the screen. Use cursor-left/right to select "B/W". The instructions are in the "Shooting in a My Colors Mode" section of the manual (page 107 in my copy).

In general, you're better off shooting in color and converting to black&white using a photo editing program on a computer. You get much better control over things like brightness and contrast this way rather than letting the camera do it.

I have a new computer and I have lost any software for my canon powershot a700 digital camera. When I connect my camera to my computer I am unable to access the pictures? Do I need to download software?

windows has its own scanner/camera wizard.
it should start up automaticly when you plug in your camera.
try a different usb port.
otherwise plug in the camera to your computer and then go to "my computer" and look for a icon that corrosponds with your camera. then open it and open the folders in that directory until you find your pictures.

Temporary solution is to take out the memory card from the camera and use the card reader to connect to the PC/laptop. Alternatively, use the MY Computer option and click on Canon PowerShot A700 icon.

Memory card compatibility

Yes, SDHC memory cards are compatible with the Canon Powershot A700, so that means you can use card with capacities over 2GB. You can also see the manual to verify this, Canon Powershot A700 Manual. On page 8, it says that SDHC memory cards are compatible.
