I have my cable box set up as one of my sources on my receiver. They are connected by an HDMI cable. I am able to get a video signal through my tv but there is no sound coming from the speakers. This has never been an issue before. I checked my playstation 3 to see if the same thing was happening but i was able to get visual and audio with no problems. There seems to be some kind of issue between the cable box and receiver. Any help would be great.
The Playstation 3 automatically broadcasts video and audio through HDMI even when an optical audio cable is ran to the receiver. If your TV has an optical audio out, it's just best to run everything into the TV including audio, and then run the optical cable from the TV to the reciever. It's less confusing and less buttons/remotes you have to use when you want to change devices, i.e. Cable/PS3/DVD

I HAVE AN ONKYO TX-SR606 RECEIVER. I HAVE CABLE TV WITH A HD RECEIVER BOX WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE SR606 WITH HDHI CABLE THEN FED BY HDMI CABLE TO THE TV. RECENTLY THE AUDIO PORTION ON MY TV STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS. OH HD TV BROADCASTS THE DIALOG WENT OUT BUT I WAS STILL GETTING THE BACKGROUND NOISES FROM THE PROGRAM, DURING A FOOTBALL GAME THE ANNOUNCERS WERE MUTE BUT THE NIOSE FROM THE CROWDS AND SIDELINES WAS STILL COMING IN. THE OTHER DAY ALL AUDIO WENT OUT ON ALL THE BROADCAST STATIONS. THE RADIO TUNER WAS ALSO OUT. I REBOOTED THE SR606 AND THE AUDIO WAS BACK UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I WATCHED TV AND THE SOUND WAS OUT ON THE HD CHANNELS AGAIN. I BYPASSED THE SR606 AND RAN THE CABLE RECEIVER DIRECTLY TO THE TV AND THE AUDIO WORKS FINE. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?
