How to hook a ps3 to a protron tv

How are you hooking it up to your TV, through the AV color cords or HDMI, or HD AV cords?

Hi our PS3 has no sound or picture. It does have the green power light on.

What is probably happening, is your PS3 is set for the wrong type of output. If you are using an HDMI cord, try switching to the AV cables that came with your PS3, and set your TV at the appropriate input to correspond with the AV hookups, and see if the picture works then.
If you are using the AV cables, it may have been set to HDMI accidentally. You need to use an HDMI cord, and hook the PS3 up to an HDMI compatible TV or monitor, and select the HDMI input. Once you get the picture working, go to Settings>Display Settings and set the display you wish to use.

Beside the 3 colour wire what else is needed to plug into the tv?

If the three color wire your talking about is the Standard Definition cord that comes with the system out-of-box, then nothing. The RCA cord (three color cord) is enough to hook your PS3 up to almost all T.V.s. You would have to do a bit of searching to find a T.V. so old it didn't have RCA jacks on it, so you have little to worry about. The only other cords you need should also have come with your system when you bought it. The power cord, for the PS3 itself, and the USB cord, for charging your controller.

Now if you have a more modern T.V. with HDMI ports, you can go out and buy an HDMI cord to use. This isn't necessary though, HDMI just gives a higher resolution. You'd have a clearer picture, as well as a slightly wider view, but this unnecessary. It's a nice upgrade, but you don't need it.

Have fun with your PS3, and good luck with your gaming!

I have a HDMI problem with my PS3. I have it

Try entering Recovery Mode and choose "Restore Default Settings".

If that doesn't help, you may have an HDMI port failure - which will require returning the unit to Sony or sending it to a third-party PS3 repair shop.

My ps3 is hooked up to my tv via HDMI cord. The

1 - Turn on TV and set input to port being used.
2 - Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
3 - Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.

Then after that change the output setting to HDMI on your PS3 and see if it works after that, if not, try the system on another TV to make sure its not a problem with your tv.

If it still doesn't work try another cable and then after that it could be a problem with the main board inside of the ps3.

Hdmi doesn't work

Make sure everything is pluged in correctly and the Playstation 3 is on stand-by. The using the power button on the console hold it for about 5 seconds till you hear two beeps. And this will reset the display settings.

Don't hold it to long or it will go on stand-by.

Also try reversing the ends of the HDMI

Need Help

try connecting A/V rca cable first. go to ur diplay settings and then to video output settings in it select av multi. don't use HDMI settings let it automatically ask u when u plug in hdmi cable. Then switch to HDMI cable. I had a problem like this before with a ps3 that i had bought used. hdmi was set up and it took forever to set it up with rca cords. took many times power on and offs and unplugging video cords for it to reset. . not sure. Now when u plug in your hdmi on any tv it should automatically set up. and you have settings for a/v as backup. the other thing is it could be the just the port or cable.

Cant get hdmi for ps3 to work on my jvc hd 52g887

Had same problem with Panasonic PT60LC14 tv when connecting by HDMI cord to my PS3 and a blue ray disc was playing. First, read your tv manual to see what video inputs it supports . Then read the PS3 online manual (section on "video output settings").

For me I found out that my tv only supported 1080i (along with 480i/p, 780p) and the ps3 manual says blue ray outputs 1080p, so my blue ray discs will not play on my tv according to the PS3 manual. PS3 manual says to restart the ps3 (power off, then power on and HOLD for 5 seconds) - then the standard video output settings should be reset. Hopefully the ps3 menu will pop up at least. I haven't tried this yet but if it doesn't work, i'll may try to reset PS3 video out settings manually first using another tv that works with it ..
