Forgot Windows XP password, don't be worried. It's very common for PC users to lose or forget Windows password as some like to set a rather complicated password. As Windows XP has been used for several years, there are various available methods that can help you to reset Windows XP password.

Method 1: Create a password reset disk to reset Windows XP password

Creating a Windows XP password reset disk is a very easy way to protect yourselves from the possibility of forgetting your password. With it, you can reset Windows XP login password easily and quickly. Don't know how to create one, just follow the instructions as below:

Otherwise, unauthorized users can log on your computer and get access to the precious data on it. It will be a disaster for you if your privacy is leaked out.

Method 2: Log on as administrator to reset Windows XP password

All Windows XP computers have a special user account named "Administrator" and by default this account is not password protected. If you don't set password for the account or you remember its password, you can log on computer with the administrator account to perform Windows XP password reset.

1. Start the computer.
2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice when you see Windows XP login screen.
3. When Log On to Windows dialog box appears, type Administrator in the User name box.

5. Click Start > Run > Type control userpasswords2 > click OK.
6. On the Users tab, click the name of the user account that you want to reset the password for, and then click Reset Password.
7. Set your new password and click OK on the Reset Password dialog box. And then click OK on user tab.
8. Restart the computer, and then try to log on to Windows again.

Method 3: Burn a USB flash drive to reset Windows XP password

In addition to the two methods above, you can also perform Windows XP password reset with third party Windows password recovery software. It can help you reset Windows XP login password by burning a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive. Before starting to perform Windows XP password reset with this method, you need to find a computer with optical driver that you can log on. Then, you can follow the below steps to burn a USB flash drive with Windows Login Recovery.

1. Download Windows Login Recovery and install it.
2. Burn the ISO image file on the program to a USB flash drive.
3. Set your locked computer to boot from USB drive.
4. Reset forgotten Windows XP password with the burned USB flash drive.

The above 3 methods are easy for you to reset Windows XP password. Of course, method to perform Windows XP password reset is not limited to the 3 options. Just as Tom Hanks said in the famous movie Forrest Gump, "Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get." As a Microsoft Windows version launched for only 9 months, Windows 7 has overtaken Windows vista in global market share according to California-based Net Applications. It moves up to the second place in the Microsoft's OS, with 14.46 percent of the global market last month compared to Vista's 14.43 percent.

As a common PC user, I don't know whether Windows 7 will surpass Windows XP, which still has a lion's share of users worldwide after released for 9 years. I also don't know when Windows 7 will pass Windows XP if it is able to overtake. But as a common PC user often forgetting Windows password, I do know some ways to log on computer again if one forgot Windows 7 password.

The most well-known method is to create a password reset disk in advance. And when you forgot Windows 7 password, you can reset Windows 7 password with the disk and log on your computer again. My x has been hacking my computer

#1 Disconnect from the internet and install a current antivirus and run a scan to see if any viruses are found. You can download AVG and all the current updates to a Flash drive on another system. You can do the same with SPYBOT Search and destroy with looks specifically for spyware.

#2 After you have removed any viruses from the system, boot to the safe mode, log on the administrator account, change the password for the administrator and all users, then reboot in the normal mode.

#3 Install a 3rd party firewall software like Zone Alarm before re-connecting to the internet

IF this doesn't work, then rebormatting the system and reinstalling Windows will resolve.

Problem with connectivity. I can sign on, but after that everything freezes. This only happens with the screen names chiameliezer and dfs. Please advise.

This is a shot in the dark really, since it could be a number of things including a corrupted hard drive, but It most likely is just some nasty virus or spyware if it is limited to the certain accounts, so log in as an admin user that works, and run your favorite spyware tool and antivirus scans and see if that helps. AdAware is a good one and has a free version that's free to use at home. You may try Spybot also and a Trend antivirus online scan is also good - and free. AVG has a free antivirus if you need one. If that is not it, you may have to delete those user accounts or do a repair on your Windows install by using the CD.

Hello, I am experienceing difficulties with my PC. I can't access to any folders and cant open the start menu.

You might have a Virus. In the case of a Virus infection I would most likely disconnect the Hard drive from the machine, scan it on another machine ( using AVG7 + AVGAS = AVG Antivirus and AVG Anti Spyware Scan) remembering to turn off system restore while scanning on the drive.

If you have successfully found and removed the virus infection, remember to delete your system volume information and recycler folder on the drive. virus files tend to infect these folders.

When you plug in your HDD into your machine again, you might want to do a Windows repair; to fix the issues that the virus has caused OR use a registry repair tool to repair registry items. Another option would be to create a new user name. The settings in that new accound should be working fine and you should be able to access the start menu and your folders again.

Before you plug in your HDD into your machine again, you might want to do a backup of your data, then either do a Windows repair or a Windows Fresh installation (Formating the entire HDD); The repair will attampt to fix the issues that the virus has caused and the fresh install you'll be sure that everything WILL work after installation OR use the Windows repair option AND a registry repair tool to repair registry items.

Another option would be to create a new user name. The settings in that new accound should be working fine and you should be able to access the start menu and your folders again.

Kind Regards
Stef
