Question about Samsung HLN507 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Screen shows only black and white

So, we just got this TV serviced about two weeks ago, because it wouldnt turn on. Now, as of today, it only has a black and white picture! On top of this there is a fairly loud humming coming from the back of the TV? It makes no sense to me. I have read from a few post that it could be the color wheel..?? But why the humming noise? the TV is only five years old, and for the price we paid, it should be lasting much longer than that! Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I believe I have the same problem. HLN507W1X never has been serviced. Picture started freezing with black and white negative image of whatever the last image was, along with a loug humming from the rear. Shut off and back on, and it work a little while, then back to the original problem. Please assist. Thank you.

Color wheels do go bad quite frequently, if you got 5 years out of the original, believe me, that's good.
The color wheel is attached be a bearing, like a fan and when the bearing starts to ware out the color wheel on the shaft starts to wobble and that's what you hear, they spin I believe around 3000rpm. Try contacting your servicer again, don't be mad, maybe he'll be kind enough just to charge you for the color wheel. I'm sorry, but that's the best advice I can give you..Good Luck...

When the picture is dark, show a torch light on the screen from a safe distance. If you can see the picture, the backlight is the problem. Anyhow, it is better to show it to a qualified service technician.

Hi,
If standby red light is blinking on tv front that means tv got some internal problem, since tv is new so would be under warranty, call Best Buy or number written on tv documents and ask warranty cover.
Any attempt to fix tv by yourself will void warranty.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Sharp aquos hdtv has sound but shows a white screen

yes and no. That particular tv you have is done for, but if you just purchased it 6 months ago, you are still within you 1 year warranty with sharp. they will ask you to take it to a authorized service center and you need to follow through with the process. about a week or 2 will pass and the service center will deem the unit unrepairable and sharp will replace it if they cant solve the problem. give em call..good luck 2u

Lg 32lc2r, only showing picture in black and white

Make sure that the color control level is set to the default or 50% to start with. This should be in the Video menu.

The colour for the tuner and for the encoded base-band video uses a circuit area called the colour demodulator. It is possible that this cirucuit area has failed and needs servicing.
