AC connection is no longer recognized on laptop.

I have a Toshiba Tecra m2 s630. worked great for the past three years. It recently stopped charging/reading the AC connection. The AC cord is fine, the connection is plugged properly - no loose ends. Any suggestions?

One common problem is that the adapter output wire breaks inside the insulation near the plug from flexing. You can't see the break, but sometimes wiggling the cord will cause the power indicator on the laptop to come on and verify the trouble. Or you can test the output with a voltmeter if one is available. This trouble can be fixed by cutting back the wire a couple of inches and soldering on a new plug, or by purchasing a replacement adapter.

Another frequent problem is for the power jack connections to break loose at the circuit board inside the laptop, again from flexing the connection. This is also a repairable problem (most of the time), but involves removing the system board from the laptop and resoldering the connections. If you don't know someone who is willing to try the repair, a service shop in your area could give you an estimate. Note that occasionally the board becomes damaged from heating and arcing at the bad connections, and is too badly burned for reliable repair. In these cases, the board needs to be replaced.

Please take a moment to rate this solution if it's what you needed, and thanks for asking here!

I have a cracked screen (toshiba tecra m2) and have an opportunity to buy a replacement screen from a tecra m2 S630 that is broken. Are the screens interchangeable?

Can't answer your screen question, but I can propose a workaround - your Toshiba laptop has a
monitor port on the back - you can plug in a standard monitor, and ignore the cracked screen
temporarily until you can replace it. hope this helps

The monitor port is the 15-pin analog VGA D-shell (female) port.
