Question about Amana ABC2037DTS Stainless Steel Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Ice maker very slow

The filter has been replaced about 6 months ago and the whole has is filtered as well. It appears to work ok in that it makes ice and dumps it back into the tray. It appears to refill with water very slowly. The unit is a few years old and the lines are not kinked as it has been working fine while the unit has never been moved. Can the lines themselves be clogged or is there a valve or solenoid be failing?

Filters will clog based on how much dirt they filter. What works well for 6 months in one locale, will be clogged in 1 month in other locales. Plus, sometimes a bug slug of trash comes through to get filtered out.

First, remove the water line from the filter (if the filter is not a part of the refrigerator) and make sure you get good flow through the water line. If you don't then you need to find the reason for the poor flow.
If you do get get flow, replace the filter. Check the flow again. It will be reduced some, but should still flow good.

If you get good flow after the filter, you need to check that the inlet to the water solenoid valve is clear. Remove the hose from the inlet of the valve and look to see that it is not clogged.

And, if there is a filter inside of the refrigerator, make sure it's clean by installing a new one.

Also make sure the water valve at the wall is turned on at least 2 full turns.

Hi,
Sometimes the water supply can need to be replaced if the water pressure to the refrigerator is slowing. To check turn the water supply off to the refrigerator and pull it out and remove the water line. Have someon turn the water back on while you spray it into a bottle or a bowl. Check the pressure. If the flow is slow then you may need to replace the water supply line and the valve. If the water pressure is good then the problem is in the refrigerator. The icemaker cycles off of themerature. If the freezer is not getting cold enough then it may only cycle a few times a day or a few times a week. If this is the case then the refrigerator will need some service to determine why the refrigerator is not cooing good enough. You can put a thermometer in the freezer and make sure it is getting to 0 degrees. If it is getting to 0 and the water pressure is good then the line in the refrigerator can be clogged or the inlet valve on the refrigerator may not be opening completely. You can replace the valve and that will solve the problem. The valve number is

Why is my GE (ZFSB23D SS) side by side refrigerator leaking at the back corner, near the rear wheel where the plastic water line goes in?

If the tubing is plastic it could have cracked when you moved the tubing to install the filter. If the tubing is OK then possinly the filter isn't all the way in or is leaking.

My suggestion , would be to reinstall your old filter or use the bypass piece which came with the refrig . You only need to replace the filter when the water flow starts to slow down or the ice cubes get smaller . Not when the red light comes on telling you to . Manufacturers make a lot of money , due to these red lights .

New ice maker--was working till filter changed- no ice now ...

You may not have the filter installed correctly, or installed the correct filter.
If you rotate to lock the filter in place, make sure you rotated the filter completely to lock.
If you had to turn the water off, did you turn it back on?
