Question about GE GSS25JET

1 Answer

GE GSS25JETA Water takes 10+ seconds to begin flow

If the water hasn't been used for a short period of time (15+ minutes) the water takes over 10 seconds to start flowing. If used within that 15 minute time frame the water starts quickly. The flow of water is strong and cold and there are no leaks.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I will give this a try.

Do you know where the water filter is on this particular model? I checked the manual and it mentions (on models that have a water filter). Don't all fridges with a water spout require a water filter?

Hi, In most cases the water is slowed by the water storage tank in the freshfood section is frozen. or if the water filter is dirty. You can try to turn the temperature up in the freshfood and see if the problem goes away, or you can replace the water filter. The water storage tank is behind the bottom drewers in the freshfood section. You can heat it up with a hair dryer to make sure it does not have any ice blocking the flow.. Good luck to you and I hope this will FixYa.

Does GE frig model # GSS25JETA have a water filter?

I don't see a filter listed in the parts breakdown for that model. If you had one, in would located in the fresh food section, top right rear corner. GE does have an external filter that can be installed in the 1/4 inch water line. and should last 6 months to a year depending on how much water you use and how bad you water actually is. GE part number is GXRTDR.

My Refrigerator makes ice but doesn't dispense water

The water reservoir is probably frozen. Remove the drawer second from the bottom and place a hair dryer on the shelf blowing on the coil of water line referred to as the water tank/reservoir. Let it blow hot air on it for 10 to 15 minutes. Try the water dispense. If the water flow is restored, set the fresh food section one setting COLDER to increase air circulation. Set the freezer to one setting to one setting warmer to circulate air that is a bit warmer. This corrects 90% of the issues related to water dispense.
The other 10% is normally the fault of the water valve.

Here is the water valve to order in case it is faulty.

GE Refrigerator Water dispenser trickles

Side like a water supply issue or a kinked line. Good pressure at first then weak pressure after a short time is a restriction in the water flow.

Old filter in and water started to sputter, made clunky noises and flow very slow. Removed filter and used plug - water ran fine not filtered.- Replaced with new Maytag filter and water sputtered, flow...

Hello there, when new filters are fitted usually they are expected to spurt for a little bit before they normalize and begin to flow properly. Dispense water continuously for 10 minutes. This usually arises when the flow of water through the unit not being allowed through properly and usually takes the new filter a couple of minutes to get accustomed to the water flow and get water circulating through all its components hence the spurts. Alternatively you can check to ensure that the water supply is turned on full and the filter is properly fitted. If all of these are in place then the dispense mechanism might be faulty.

Whirpool Gold 21 Cu. Ft. Side by Side. Water dispenser will not dispense water. I hear the solenoid click. I think the line in must be frozen some where.

Do the following: Flush the water system. Use a sturdy container to depress and hold the water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat until water begins to flow. Once water begins to flow, continue depressing and releasing the dispenser lever (5 seconds on, 5 seconds off) until a total of 3 gal. (12 L) has been dispensed. This will flush air from the filter and water dispensing system, and prepare the water filter for use.
Ensure that the freezer door is closed completely? Close the door firmly.
Ensure that the water shutoff valve is fully open.
Ensure that the water pressure is at least 30 psi (207 kPa)? The water pressure to the home determines the flow from the dispenser.
Check for any kinks in the home water source line? Straighten the water source line.
Check the water filter. The filter may be clogged or incorrectly installed.
if still there is problem of water flow then please take assistance of a technician to check the plumbing.
If the fridge is new and in the warranty period get in touch with the service center and ask for free service.

Please tell me how to replace the water filter and reset the "change filter" light on my Maytag Refrigerator MSD2756GEB. My light stays red after I change the filter. Thanks

Hello,

The filter status display will help you know when to change your
water filter. When the display reads 10%, order a new filter. It is
recommended that you replace the filter when the display reads 10% OR when water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases.

The filter should be replaced at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage.

Step 2
Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.

Step 3
Pull the filter straight out.

Step 4

Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter. IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.

Step 5
Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and
turn the cap until it snaps into place.

Step 6
Remove the protective covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.

Step 7
Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop back out when the filter is fully engaged.

Step 8
Flush the water system. Use a sturdy cup or glass. Depress and hold the
water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat this process until water begins to flow. Once water begins to flow, continue depressing and releasing the dispenser lever. Hold down for 5 seconds and then release for 5 seconds. Do this on/off process for about 2 minutes. This will flush air from the filter and water dispensing system.

Take care......

Want to know when and how to replace water filter on a ge side by side refrig

Hello,

The water filter status light or indicator, present on some models, will help you know when to change your water filter. The light, or indicator, is located either on the temperature control panel in the refrigerator compartment or on the dispenser control panel on the freezer door.

The indicator will be one of two styles.

If the indicator is a light or series of lights, the light will change from green to yellow. This tells you that it is almost time to change the filter. It is recommended that you replace the filter when the status light changes to red or when water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker noticeably decreases.
If the indicator resembles a stack of bars, the bar height will decrease and the status display will change from "Good" to "Order." This tells you that it is almost time to change the filter. Replace the water filter cartridge when the water filter status display changes to "Replace" or when water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker noticeably decreases.
If a filter status light/indicator is not present, the filter should be changed at least once every 6 months. Your filter may need to be replaced more frequently depending on your usage and water quality.

If the water flow to the water dispenser or ice maker noticeably decreases before 6 months have passed, you may need to replace the water filter cartridge more often. Decreased water flow is a sign that the filter is clogged and needs to be replaced.

If the filter is clogged and you are not able to immediately replace it, remove the filter so the water system is in bypass mode. With the filter removed, the water system will continue to operate, bypassing the filter, and the clogged filter will not cause slow water dispensing or low ice production. However, in order to have filtered water, you will need to install a new filter.

Ice maker does not work

Turn the icemaker off for 15-20 seconds at the rocker switch on the side of the icemaker body (square white box)Turn switch back on and immediately press the feeler arm (white paddle) in and out three time. This should start a test cycle. If still no water after it runs through a test harvest cycle (will take about 4-5 minutes), remove the icemaker and look at the ring finger size plastic tube that allows water flow into the icemaker. It is probably full of ice (because of a plugged filter or some other water supply interruption -possibly while you were changing the filter). If the tube is iced up warm it up gently with a hair dryer being extra careful not to get drops of water in the hair dryer nozzle. Do NOT use too high of a heat setting as that tube will melt... complicating things unnecessarily
