This webpage has details to open up your Zune. Up to Step Four (and Picture 4) ONLY! Picture 4 shows the spot where the Lock switch is, right below the upper arrow on the left side. Push the lock switch *away* from the headphone jack. Re-assemble.

!!! Operate at your own risk. Do not imbibe before picking up screwdriver. Do Not Trust Me as I have never opened my 30 gig Ever!!!
The pics & info look *fairly* straightforward, tho'.

My zune fell out of my pocket while I was working in the rain and got wet. Not sure how long it was out-maybe 20 minutes-but still worked for a little while. It shut off a bit later and won't restart. ...

yeah you should have shut it off right after it got wet and let it dry completely, by letting it run with water in it you probably fried the battery and internal circuitry

Zune does nothing! Screen says Zune with loading logo but...

Let it on and completely drain the power, then try it. Make sure your lock key is not locked either. (at the top of Zune Device)

120 Gig Zune Locked Up -Won't Unlock

One other option you may not know of is to hold the down button, and the back button at the same time. This will send the Zune into a deeper "off" state, and may reset your lock command.

If NO other options are working, you should probably try a "hard reset".

This means you will have to open the Zune itself up (you can find simple instructions for this fairly easily online) and pull a small plug out that connects the battery to the Zune itself. Don't worry, your music wont be deleted.

Zune 4gb won't reset

Hi, try taking out the batteries and leave out for 1 minute, this may reset it. If this doesn't work well I am afraid your Zune has just had a Software Crash. Which will have to be serviced.

Zune Touch Pad Stopped Working

The same thing happened to mine where just the touch pad doesn't work. It happened after a few monthes and to one of my friends as well; hers started working a day or two after and I had left mine alone once it stopped working but I went back to mine after she mentioned hers started working again and mine worked again too. I know that isn't much help because I don't know what fixed it but try just leaving it off for a few days and then going back to it.

Broken lcd screen. it wasnt dropped to my knolege . microsoft states damage claims not covered and 1 week later my friends zune has the same problem . no evidenc eof damage on outside but inside scree

The screen probably broke because of the battery...

It so happens the geniuses at Micro$oft decided to put the battery RIGHT BEHIND THE LCD... Well what happens when things get hot, they expand... So lets charge the battery(which warms up) and rubs right into the LCD... Sorry to hear that you've had this problem, I have been graced by god to not have it happen to either of my 3 units... The only way to keep it from happening is to not overcharge it and to keep the unit cool...

Can't get my Zune software to forget my device

I had to replace a Zune that was dropped in water. I didn't bother trying to get the Zune program to forget the other Zune. I just attached it and started syncing my stuff. Did you try that? BTW I named the new one the same thing as the old one with no problem.
