Question about Compaq Presario C700T Notebook

Laptop Fan Sounds real Loud.

I bought my laptop about a year ago and now the fan sounds real loud. Extremely loud. Sometimes it just overheats and turns the computer off. What should I do? I have the two year warranty for it and it doesn't expire until next year. Also the mousepad has worn out.

Thanks for the response. I have the 2-Year Extended Service Protection Warranty. Should I just call and tell them I am taking it in? Will they give me a new computer or just fix this one?

I would either call HP or if you got th extended warranty and go back to the store and have the take care of the repairs so you don't void the warranty. You can tell them the mousepad is worn out and it won't move the mouse properly and also explain about the overheating problem, both should be covered under warranty.

It sounds like the cooling fan and the sound sort of comes and goes.it sometimes is extremely loud especially on startup it sounds like a grinding noise

Usually it will in summer. Take your processor fan out and apply some processor coolant paste in it and clean your fan and heat sink. You are there. Sound minimised. Pls vote if you like this

Sony Vaio fan making noise

Hi:
Not sure of a user cause for the fan to run full speed, unless you are using the laptop in a high heat environment, or setting it on a bed or other area where it is not getting adequet cooling air. If it does it right away, when you turn it on , cold, then there might be a laptop hardware problem. If you leave your laptop on all the time, then you might be inducing the problem. I had a HP high performance laptop, that the fans would not turn on at all till it ran an hour or so, then they would stay on loud for 10 or 15 minutes, then shut off, then cycle.

Fan of VAIO CS-118E makes loud sounds

That is definitely a problem from the fan. What you can do is to call sony and check if they still cover Fan replacement for this specific mode.

I bought HP Pavilion dv5 6 months ago and fan not working

Your cooling fan sounds to have went out, causing it to overheat and shut down.It also could be something in the fan stopping it from turning.Try cleaning it or blowing it out with it off.But it mostly sounds to have went out.

Cooling fan

Yes. It can be replaced. Try to check which fan is making that sound. Do you have a laptop or a PC? On a PC, there are 3 standard fans inside it. one for the CPU, one for the power supply and one for the computer casing fan as well. It depends on which of those fans it's coming from. On a laptop, some laptops' fans actually makes a loud noise which is common but there is a way that it could be lessened but it might slow down your pc and it might overheat it as well. The loud noise on the fans of a laptop actually indicates that it's trying to cool down the system. If it doesn't stop the loud noise, it could indicate a problem switching the fans back to normal and would just continue to spin fast. Try to contact your PC tech for further diagnostics on the laptops fan to indicate if the problem is with the fan or the mainboard as well.
