Bought a brand new PS3 in Oct 09. Brought it home plugged it in and the tv started smoking. So no more tv. Replaced the PS3 with another one. It is now February and this PS3 just did the same thing to my other tv. HELP. I want all my money back and all new games. SONY you need to stand behind your produce.

Re: ps3 blew up a 2nd tv
Make sure that you are not plugging either the game system or the TV into a surge supressor device or any other equipment that may allow you to have reversed the polarity of the AC current coming into the equipment from the wall outlet. Remember, most modern electronics equipment has a "hot" ground power supply. That means there is the possibility that you are sending current thru the ground return path of the items you connect in this way.

This can be caused by a dirty laser in the drive. Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and alcohol. If this does not fix the problem, the laser may need to be replaced. Contact Sony and see if the unit is still under warranty.
hi there try using the ps3 as audio-cd play(blind, without screen)
with any other tv to make sure soun still is coming...
if there was a flash or circuit destroyíng the yellow(video)plug,
either the cable has been destroyed or the short backfired even into the video module of the psx3.
try exchanging the cable, if that doesn't do any good, the video module got smoked...
let a technician repair/replace it or you think about becoming the happy owner of another brand new psx3
I am an Australian ( 240v) and I took my PS3 to the Caribbean (110v - same as the US) and it worked fine as far as power concerned. However as I had the PS3 set to work on my TV back home (PAL) when I took it over there & plugged it in (NTSC) I had a similar problem. I fixed it like this: when the PS3 is turned off hold down the power button for 15-30 seconds it will reset the PS3's settings to defult and it should work on the system that it's connected to. Hope it helps
