What could cause chainsaw not to start. It's not getting fire to the plug

If there is no spark it could be an HT wire or the magneto or the magneto grounding switch.

How to adj the crab on a poulan chainsaw

if the engine is in good shape..screw in both carb jets adjusting screws till they seat lightly, then back them out 1 1/2 turns, srew in the throttle adj screw a turn and start the motor,,warning if the chain is on make sure the blade isnt likely to touch anything when the engine starts as you will have to have the brake off to get started and adjusted. With the engine running, adjust the throttle srew until it is idling just above shutting off speed, then adjust the "L" low speed jet to get the best idling speed without srewing it in much, reset the throttle srew, then , while trying to accelerate suddenly each time, open the Low jet a little at a time until the machine accelerates smoothly without hesitation. Reset the throttle srew to a position that the chain stops running at idle and check again that the acceleration is without hesitation ( usually with "L" jet about 1/4 turn out more than best idling). The high "H" jet can now be set to give the best power while cutting a block of wood.

2006 Poulan-Pro 295. Very hard to pull cord to start...feels like too much compression.

Remove the plug and try it. If its still hard to turn over. you may have cylinder damage.

Hi I have a Poulan 3000 chainsaw that starts hard and wont stay running. Does anyone have a sevice manual? I am not sure where to set the carb adjustment screws to start (idle, low, high).

No service manual, but you should check the fuel filter, air filter, and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of all of the fuel lines looking for decay or other damage. Chances are that the jet screws are 'D' headed and can't be adjusted by the owner, only an authorized service shop has the necessary screwdriver. Be sure to have fresh fuel mix in the tank and be sure to shake the fuel can just before filling each time to prevent oil starvation. Don't make up more than a gallon at a time unless sawing is your business. Hope this helps!

Need a chain for 14in electric poulan chain saw the normal 14 in chain does not list the electric saw as one it will fit

Hello Jennifer;
The number of drive links, pitch and gauge of the chain need to be determined to answer your question. If you take your saw or just the chain to a local chain saw outlet a new chain can be fabricated in a very few minutes. This will save shipping and handling fees as well. While there get the numbers mentioned above. Once you have these you can likely find a low kickback chain in a local home center the next time the chain needs replacement.
The FAQs here can likely answer all your questions.

Poulan chain saw mod. SM4018 Hard to start & won't accelerate

Your carburetor needs cleaned. It may also need a carburetor kit, depending on how old or how long it has been since service. While you have it apart, you may as well clean or replace the air filter and check fuel lines for cracks or brittleness. If you need tips on how to clean carb. or changing fuel lines, just let me know.
