Unit was dead - no power. Spent an hr taking it apart. Some teeth on large gear (2 total gears) broken. Removed the broken pieces and put back together. It now moves for 2 seconds and stops (can shred, but takes forever), so I want to replace the gear. Is there any merchant that sells replacement gears for this unit? Thanks!

Most likely there is a stripped or cracked gear or a gear with broken gears inside. The only way to find out is by taking it apart and looking at it. There are about 3-5 gears inside and it would be easy enough to spot which one isn't turning. As always.. Safety first.. When taking apart the shredder, unplug it. When you want to test it, plug it back in and BE REAL CAREFUL because you have AC and will have moving gears, and shredder teeth.
If you don't want to go through the hassle then it might be time to buy a new shredder. Good luck.
The paper sensing switch lever has bent or broken or the switch is faulty. Check between the wheels about in the middle of the shredder to see if you see if the little plastic finger. If the finger is visible and can be moved, the switch is faulty. REMEMBER TO UNPLUG IT BEFORE DOING ANY INVESTIGATION.
The part number you need is 2601 062 as long as your looking for the gear that meshes with the motor shaft. The price is around 25.00 dollars and phone number for destroyit or as known MBM corp. 800-223-2508
Hope this helps leave feedback if so. If you have trouble getting part contact me i'm a dealer and can get you the part.
I have the SC800 apart. My problem is not fixing it. I just need the part. The large gear which appears to be made of pewter has a couple of teeth missing. If I could find the part I can fix it. It's a very simple machine. If you know where I can get the part I would appreciate you letting me know..
