Hey,

If you look at this page you can see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_shader#Hardware_Compatability

PS version (pixel shader version supported / compatible)
so that would be for shader 3 requirement

Ati Radeon x1300 to x1950 cards support it Also!
Nvidia Geforce 6 and newer.

The Radeon hd 3xxx and newer support version 4 (everything 1 2 3 4)

well you can see on the list.

If you want a cheap card with just shader 3 support

get ati radeon x1900 or better
or Nvidia 8 series, nvidia 8600 GT for example.

Do you need a place to buy them from?

in the USA - http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=38&name=Video-Cards-Video-Devices

for example, this one is cheap
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814140104

But it requires a PCI-E slot on the computer. Looking at your computer you have a agp slot, I think its time to buy a new computer for the newer games.

Need graphic card upgrade for Dell Dimension 4500 w/ pixel shader

This is an older machine that has a 4x AGP port for graphics cards. The good news is that cards for this slot are cheap...usually in the 30-50 dollar range. The downside is that you wont get the greatest performance out of them. I would recommend going with a Geforce FX 5200.

What to do to play simms 3 on a T2792 emachine. says i need a pixel shader2.0 ?

Hmm... It looks like you may have an older graphics card. Pixel Shader 2.0 is the shader version on a graphics card. You may need to upgrade your video card. I'm sorry, but there is really no way to get around the Pixel Shader restriction other than having a graphics card that HAS Pixel Shader 2.0 or above. You may want to visit newegg.com or tigerdirect.com to see how much this upgrade will cost. Ebay could also have some deals for you. To find out what card you CURRENTLY have, use the "RUN" tool in Windows, and type in "dxdiag". The display tab within dxdiag will show you what card you currently have. I hope this helps.

Hi, your laptop does not have a compatible graphics card enough to let you play COD 4, COd 4 requires a high end graphics card to play this game. Below are the minimum specifications needed to play this game. CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.4 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) 64 2800+ processor or any 1.8Ghz Dual Core Processor or better supported RAM: 512MB RAM (768MB for Windows Vista) Harddrive: 8GB of free hard drive space Video card (generic): NVIDIA(R) Geforce(TM) 6600 or better or ATI(R) Radeon(R) 9800Pro or better Hope this helps!

I HAVE A GAME KUNG FU PANDA AND MY VIDEO CARD WILL NOT ALLOW THE GAME TO PLAY iT STATES I MUST HAVE AT LEAST SHADER MODE 2.0 TO RUN..CAN I BYPASS THIS OR TURN OFF SHADER SO THE GAME CAN BE PLAYED

Without a driver hack, you must have a DirectX 9 compatible card to run games using pixel/vertex shader mode 2.0.

Even with a hack, which may or may not violate your end-user policy or warranty, you will not get the 2.0 effects - it just bypasses the calls.

Its saying pixel shader not available

Hello,

I assume that you are gettign this error message when you try playing a game. Pixel Shader is a part of the video driver of the computer and cannot be installed separately. It comes all the geforce4 and higher video cards. If you are not using these cards, you may have to upgrade the video card to resolve the issue. If your video card falls into this category, you need to reinstall the video driver.

Hope this helps!
