Thanks for response. I was wanting to try and keep from loosing all my pictures on the hard drive. I paid a computer store to try and transfer pictures from Hard Drive to a disk but they said when they took hard drive out that it was bad and they couldn't recover pictures. But how is it I can do a F11 and the hard drive will work in this laptop? Any other ideas on how to save pictures first? Thanks again.

Hi there,

I sugguest placing your recory disks in and doing a system restore, u will loose everythink tho.

if you dont have this disks you can simply turn on the laptop and keep your finger in F11, then do a system recory from there. just follow the on screen instructions to format drive

If you do F11 i think there is an option of not deleting your files im not to sure.

The other thing you can do is buy a new 2.5" hard drive Here and intall this into your laptop,

just unscrew the back hard drive panel on the laptop with the sybol of discs on it.

Then buy this USB external hard drive case Here And itstall your old hard drive into this and see if you can recover your files.

I know its to late to do this, but after you have fixed your laptop, i sugguest buying a proper external hard drive and storing all your files onto it, this way you should never loose them when your laptop breaks :)

    please rate this solution

    thanks

Reboot safe mode and still cant get pass login screen forgot password

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password and privileges. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD.
Then insert this CD into the laptop-computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions.
There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program.
Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :-

Unable to login with password asking to reset with reset cd

I have a utility I use whenever I work on someone's computer who has forgotten their PW, or have inherited it from others, etc. and don't have the PW. It might help with your trouble. At the very least, it won't help and no harm done.

You can download from my website at;

http://home.centurytel.net/vfw_987/ntpb.zip

Simply save the file to your computer and unzip it. Make sure there is a 1.44mb floppy in the floppy drive and run the install.bat file. Then reboot from the floppy drive and follow the prompts. The program will blank all Windows passwords and you can then reboot and enter a new PW or not, as you prefer.

Possibility of a solution, but you gotta trust me on this. I won't beoffended if you ignore this or scan the utility with a mal-wareprogram. In fact, I recommend it!

Hope this helps.

Power on password

Hi jrodk777,

If I understand you correctly you get a DOS screen asking for your password. If this is correct, its asking for the BIOS password. Actually your better off with a BIOS password than you are with a windows password, its more secure. When you reboot your going to see a quick screen for entering setup, hit what ever F button they offer for this option. Choose password, erase or leave it blank(this will reset the BIOS password to a default of no password. If you want a BIOS password type it in here save changes and exit and you should be okay. I hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.com

Sincerely, cyyyd7

For the life of me, I don't remember where I originally got this utility, but it works.

Anyway, it's a possibility of a solution, but you gotta trust me on this and trust is almost as rare as honesty, especially in this faceless media. I won't be offended if you ignore this or scan the utility with a mal-ware program. In fact, I recommend it!

Hope this helps.
