Optiplex 745 monitor goes to sleep randomly

In regards to your issue with your monitor: For a monitor to display "no signal input" there is likely a problem with the monitor making a connection to your input source (yes I know duh). First and easiest thing to fix this is to check your cables going between your computer and monitor, if your computer and monitor start out working and then fail to communicate, there is a good chance that the cable might be coming loose just enough that the connection fails. I might suggest that if you have, as you say another computer, that you try swapping monitors to check where the problem lies.

Hope this helps some.

Power drain

There is a lack of communication between the monitor and video card. Try reseating if add-on video card. Make sure monitor is set to correct input, like VGA (analog), DVI, HDMI, or Display Port. Try testing with another monitor.

Hi

I'm not sure what you mean by VGI. I will assume you mean VGA (Analogue - D Shaped with 15 pinholes).

When pixels or line of lixels fail on a monitor, they usually fail in spots or in a vertical lines due to the design of the matrix.

Since both monitors are sharing a single cable and the graphics card is a new one, the fault automatically isolates itself to either the monitor or its VGA connector.

Check that none of the pins in the end that connects to the faulty monitor are bent and/or touching one another and shorting.

Then try changing the resolution of the graphics card itself and test the monitor's performance at various settings to see if the resolution seeting is straining against the limits of the monitors range.

Right click on open space in the desktop > properties > settings > click and hold the slider scale step by step, up and down the scaled to test the monitor > apply > ok > test for a reasonable period > reset.

Also test the monitor with a single VGA cable to another computer (even a laptop, using the Fn key + external monitor function key).

Thses tests should tell you if the monitor is failing.

I hope this helps.

Monitor not showing icon regularly

If you mean that your monitor isnt showing your desktop icons regularly, as in you mean some restarts shows your desktop icons and sometimes its just shows your desktop. Then the first thing i would look at is that is generally an issue that happens when both digital and analog cables are hooked up from the tower to the monitor. Look at the back of your monitor and see if there is two cables, one is the power cable, and there should only be one more either blue or white, that goes to your tower. If you do have more then that disconnect one of the video cables I personally would say keep the white one its a higher quality picture being the fact its digital. Hopefully that solves your problem!

Dell flat screen goes white and colored block appears and floats

Check that your monitor is connected properly and tightly to the computer. If it is, then the monitor may be bad. Borrow a friend's monitor and try to see if it works, if someone else's monitor works, then replace your monitor.

Some monitors have a analog/digital switch. Check you documentation to see if your monitor is of this type. If it is, it might be as simple as switching to analog instead of digital.
BTW, If your card only has VGA (the blue plug) then using the DVI adapter (the white plug) will not likely improve visual quality.

Computer monitor comes on for 1 seconds, flashes "analog power save mode" and then goes black.

Most monitors will say "Power save mode" when they can tell through residual voltage that the signal lead is plugged into a machine, but there's no picture being transmitted. The four states of a monitor are:

* Off entirely.
* Switched on, plugged into a computer but no video signal being received - usually displays "analog power save mode" or "digital power save mode" for a few seconds, then blanks. Comes back to life the moment a video signal is received. This state is the default in full power saving mode.
* Switched on, not plugged into a computer. Some monitors don't display anything, some go into power saving mode, some fly "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" or a similar message around the screen. Picture is restored when the signal cable is plugged back into the computer
* On fully, receiving an image, and displaying.

Hope this helps.

My acer laptop with windows xp will not allow me to select the optimal resolution for my samsung moniter. How do I fix this?

The Samsung SyncMaster 730b is a 17-inch analog and digital TFT-LCD monitor delivering crisp, clean text and bright, vivid colors. This display offers a 600:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 1280 x 1024 resolution, 160/160 degree viewing angle, scanning frequency of 30-81 kHz horizontal and 56-75 Hz vertical and 0.294mm pixel pitch
The SyncMaster 730b display offers the option of using either a digital or analog interface for viewing images and text. The Digital Video Interface (DVI) ensures a shaper, cleaner image and a more accurate representation of the original video source. Since video starts out digital in a PC graphics card, the digital output is directly interfaced to the digital input of the LCD panel and always provides the optimum quality image. In addition, no adjustments are required with a digital display, even when randomly changing resolutions. Input connectors for this display include 15-pin D-sub and DVI-D. Available in black, the SyncMaster 730b delivers a maximum of 16.2 million colors. The monitor is Windows Plug and Play DDC 2B compatible
The important stuff here would be the following:
(1) 30-81 kHz horizontal and 56-75 Hz vertical
(2) SyncMaster 730b delivers a maximum of 16.2 million colors
(3) 1280 x 1024 resolution
nVidia card settings should not exceed these monitor parameters. The monitor is not designed for more performance output without increasing liability toward failure. ?. Put your card settings, under the nVidia tab, at the following:
(a) Refresh rate set at 75 Hz
(b) Set colors at 16 million
(c) Set resolution slightly less than 1280 x 1024
It?s quite possible your monitor is at fault, but start with its optimal parameter settings for the display card first. The display card probably exceeds the monitor?s capabilities. Hopefully, this will stabilize your PC session and the blank outs cease if hardware is not faulty

LCD monitor trouble

Hi

It could be an issue with the monitor or the software or the drivers for the graphics card.

Pls uninstall the display drivers, restart the drivers and reinstall the display drivers and then restart the computer once again and check the display.

Also pls install the monitor software that came with the monitor.

Also you may try downloading the original display drivers and any driver updates from the graphics card manufacturer website and check the display.

If the above steps doesnt work, then the monitor has to be serviced or replaced.
