Problem opening up videos downloaded from my digital camera

I have an Easyshare 875 digital camera. I recorded video today but when I double click on the .mov file the message comes up "Windows cannot open file". I can download photos ok, but not video.

I chose Windows Picture and fax viewer that does not work, I also chose Microsoft picture manager and that does not work. As a last effort I chose Windows Media Player, but the message I get is Window Media Player cannot play. The file is either corrupt or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play.

What am I missing here? Do I need to install some plugins? How do i get the videos to work?

Thank you,

Dennis Manz

.mov is a Quicktime video format. Download Quicktime from the apple website and you'll be able to play it.

My kodak easyshare C143 lost the sound when I make video.. Can you help me?

Your camera hasn't lost anything. It's a very basic and cheap model which is primarily a digital stills camera. Although it can record video, it does not have the hardware to record audio.

You get what you pay for and so having a very rudimentary video recording function keeps the price down and makes sure that the primary camera function is still satisfactory.

Your fix, if you want sound with your video, is to either get a dedicated video camera or to get a more advanced digital stills camera with full video and audio capability.

I have Windows7. How do I play the videos that I have taken on my camera. They download but I don't know how to play them. I downloaded on Windows Photo Gallery.

Sometimes they'll play if you double-click on them. If not, right-click on one and click on "open with" to see a list of choices...select one and see if it plays. If not, repeat the procedure and try another. If nothing seems to work, download a free copy of "Quicktime" from the Apple website....it can play a wide variety of video formats.

Black Videos

Alexanderia,

Your camera records video in "Quicktime" format. The reason you aren't getting video, is because the program you are using to watch the video cannot recognize the video.

Simply download quicktime. You can get the free version here:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Choose the top option for the quicktime player, or the bottom option if you would like "itunes" with it. It's up to you.

After installing quicktime, you may need to "right click" your video and choose "open with". You can then choose "quicktime"

You should be able to see and hear your video!

Can't download my video files from xacti e2 to my computer

TRANSFERRING RECORDED IMAGES AND VIDEOS FROM YOUR VPCT700 DIGITAL CAMERA TO YOUR COMPUTER

Connecting the Camera to Your Computer
1. Connect one end of the USB cable to the PC/AV terminal of the camera.
2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your computer.
3. Turn on your camera.
-The [USB] screen appears.
4. Select [PC] with the Up and Down Arrow buttons, and press the SET button.
5. From the Windows desktop, double click on “My Computer”.
6. Look for a new “Removable disk” icon. This “Removable disk” is actually the memory card in your camera. Typically, the camera will be assigned drive letter “E” or higher.
7. Double click on the removable disk and locate the DCIM folder.
8. Double click on the DCIM folder to open it to find more folders.
-Your recorded images and video clips will be inside these folders.
-Copy & Paste or Drag-N-Drop image and video files to a folder on your computer.

Mac users: Double-click the “untitled” or “unlabeled” disk drive icon on our desktop. iPhoto may automatically launch.

Downloading images and Video Files
When the camera is turned on and connected to your computer, it is considered to be a disk drive, just like a floppy disk or CD. You can download (transfer) images by copying them from the “Removable disk” (“untitled” or “unlabeled” disk on a Macintosh) to your computer hard drive.

Windows
Open the “removable disk” and subsequent folders by double clicking on them. Your images are inside these folder(s). Select the images that you want, and then choose “Copy” from the “Edit” menu. Open the destination location (folder) and choose “Paste” from the “Edit” menu. You may also drag and drop image files from the camera to a desired location.

Macintosh
Open the “untitled” disk icon, and the destination location on your hard disk. Drag and drop from the camera to the desired destination.

NOTE
- Memory card users may prefer to use a memory card reader (highly Recommended).
- Video playback application is not included with the package. Make sure that video playback application has been installed in your computer.
