Just use it like a telephone. Put the document in, punch in the number and press send.

Able to send faxes but unable to receive.

you need to check how the fax machine is setup for receiving faxes. i recommend you try it first without the answering machine, to see if it works. if it doesnt, then it has to do with the auto answer or the number of rings not set right, if it does work, it could be that you need to set it to check for fax while the answering machine is answering, check the manual under answering faxes.
thanks adi

Fax problem

I want to make sure I understand this completely. You get no dial tone from the fax machine when hooked up to VOIP. In the past, was there an audible dial tone from the fax, or did it just dial silently and give you an error if there was no tone? When you said you got a dial tone by connecting a phone to the ext phone port of "the machine" did you mean the fax machine? If you get a dial tone by running a phone through the fax machine, then the line is good. I have used a fax machine over Sunrocket before they went defunct, which used the same technology base as Vonage - so it should work. If you used to get an audible dial tone when using the fax, and no longer do, and you are geting a dial tone on a regular phone that is connected to the ext. port of the fax machine, then the problem has to be in the fax machine itself, not the VOIP. If you can verify that, we can go from there.

Yikes!! Get your phone company involved. Remember that a fax machine uses a normal home style phone line. Something is seriously messy with the phone lines in the building

Help I have a Lexmark all in one x7675 which I have been using without problems wirelessly. I am trying to use my home phone number as a fax connected to the printer. It seems to work if I ring it from my...

When you ring it from your biz line, does it pick up? If you're using a high speed dsl line, you'll need to put the machine where a normal phone would go. You should be able to ring the machine using our cell phone. If the machine indicates an incoming call, but still doesn't pick up, check the settings and make sure it isn't set to manual instead of automatic fax pickup.

Not sure what the problem is exactly. You say that your line is good and you successfully sent a fax using the machine but then you said you can't receive or send...apparently using the phone jack you have available for your machine. It should work using any phone jack you have available in your place.

HP.com has a web page that contains a wide variety of fax troubleshooting steps that may help you. Sorry I can't be more specific, but without knowing more about the problem, this is my best suggestion:

Post back your results and good luck.

2. Use the [ left.gif] or [ right.gif] to select [RX SETTINGS] then press <OK>.
3. Use the [ left.gif] or [ right.gif] to select [INCOMING RING] then press <OK>.
4. Use the [ left.gif] or [ right.gif] to select [ON] then press <OK>.
5. Use the [ left.gif] or [ right.gif] to select the desired number of rings. Press <OK> then press <Stop/Reset>.

Fax query

This sounds like you have smart ring on your home line. Smart ring lets you have 2 seperate telephone numbers, One for fax and another for phone, but 2 distinctive rings all one one line. Check your manual to see if you have this feature and to set it up.

External answering machine

When you have two machines that "require" control of a single phone line, this is what you run into. Either the settings allow the fax to answer every call, even regular calls, OR the answering machine. Both can not have pre-dominance at the same time. You are either going to have to have a dedicated line for the fax service, or do as you have been doing.
