Printing on my HP 4P Lazerjet produces shading on the left side
Lately when I print, I get a shading on the left side of the paper. I am wondering if this means I have a bad drum or is it something else. The remainder of the sheet is very legible. On the shading, there is also faded typing. I just want to know if the printer can be repaired or is it hopeless.

you may know that this model of printers is very old
i think your cartridge is expiered try to change the cartridge if by the old one just to test....
if the new cartridge is the reason then you have to replace it
Your problem is likely a defective drum. Is it new or refurbished? I would take it back to the store where you purchased it and tell them the drum is defective and has been printing spots since it was installed, and was not doing that before.
Most likely a bad pick up roller these machines will give a jam error if the paper or envelope is not picked up. Try cleaning the roll for the tray you are having the trouble with if the condition improves you have found the problem.
Hope this helps
A 50 Service error is a fuser error. Turn the printer off for 5 to 10 minutes, then turn it back on. If the error is still there, I think your going to need to make a service call you can try reseating the fuser, but be sure to let the fuser cool completely before touching it. Good Luck the HP Laserjet 4p is a great printer.
