I cannot link my Advent 4-way Navigation Mouse to its dock

Try a power adapter with more amperage. When you connect a dock, the 3 amp adapter that comes with IBM laptops will not have enough power for lots of add-ons. You'll need the 4 amp adapter.

A docking station is an extension or addition of ports for a laptop computer. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized, you might have a corrupted docking profile. Undock the computer and dock it again once it has fully started up to reset the docking profile. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If you have an external monitor and it is not working, completely close the lid on the laptop so the image will move to the external monitor. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized and resetting the docking profile fails, update all drivers through Dell's support website and then re-dock the computer. Some of the software that runs the hardware may have become corrupted. Hope this helps

Go to the Control Panel in your start menu whilst the PC is in the dock,disconnect the things you want it to detect, then click on "Add a device" and connect them one by one :)

I am assuming that you mean the USB on the docking station is not detecting your mouse and keyboard, please can you open your device manager and have a look for the docking station in the list, if you see it in the list but is has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark showing next to the docking station, if this is the case right click on the line and remove this from the list, and then get device manager to refresh, this will reinstall the driver and should get the docking station working again.

I unplugged the moniter, mouse keyboard and power. I plugged in the mouse, keyboard, moniter and then the power. I placed the laptop on the docking station and it worked.

Sounds like a compatibility issue between your Dell and the Docking station. I would say make sure the software for your docking station is installed properly, and update the software before connecting again.

That docking station has a lithium-ion battery in it that supposedly never needs replacing. I'm wondering if the battery did go out on it and needs to be replaced. If there is now way to get inside of the docking station then you will need to get another mouse, cause you can't just get the docking station.

Problem with the motherboard, it wouldn't affect those ports on the motherboard when its docked because your using the ports on the docking station instead of the motherboard. You could always go into the BIOS and reset them to defaults just to make sure but honestly it sounds like an issue with the motherboard.

If the docking station has power:

Make sure power is off for both the laptop and the docking station. Plug your keyboard and mouse into the docking station. Dock the D630 to the docking station and then power on docking station. This should then turn on your D630. Your D630 should detect the keyboard and mouse.

If the docking station has no power:

Verify that the power cord, AC adaptor, etc. is plugged in. If the items listed seem to be in order,
there may be a problem with the power going into the docking station. (AC adaptor?)

support.dell.com will have the specific details for your D630 and your docking station, et al.
