Kenmore elite calypso washer leaves clumps of lint on clothes
We have had this washer for about 6 years, and I have never been all that happy with it. However, in the past year it has gotten worse. It runs fine, but it leaves these gross clumps of lint on my clothes. It is most noticeable on darks and whites, but is present on pretty much everything. I have cleaned every possible nook and cranny of lint and gunk to no avail. I am about ready to ditch it and get a front loading HE machine that works. Any ideas on what I can do before giving up?

Sorry to hear you got one of these. they stopped making that model because of multiple problems. I have seen the lint issue come up with these over and over w/o a solution. I can say if you are not using a dryer to dry getting one will help.
a 6ya Repairman can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Calypso...The pumps fail often. They have redisigned one that theres not as many problems with, but if you still have the original, this is deffinatly the problem. As far as clothes getting stuck, the U-Joints wear out and cause too much play allowing things to get stuck. Total for this repair parts + labor will usually run about 500-600. There was a class action lawsuit for this machine and they no longer make it.
Run the hottest & fullest cycle possible - without a load - and add a grease remover - like goo-gone. Fatty tissues build up inside the tub - and can be released on hot cycles if HOT wasn't used very often.
It is recommended to run a HOT load every 2 weeks or so to avoid these buildups and staining of clothes.
