Question about Whirlpool LEW0050PQ 3.8 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer - White

1 Answer

Dryer not powering on

The dryer door switch was fried (one of the connectors was black and the switch was partially melted at that connection). I replaced the switch and it worked fine for a couple of days. Now it won't even power on, and the door switch is fried again. Any ideas on what I should try replacing next (besides the door switch)?

The second frying of the switch indicates a major problem somewhere. Start at the receptacle and work your way back to the inside of the dryer and see that everything is tight. I think you will find that the problem lies at where the wire ends at the block inside of the back of the dryer. This might be ugly. Dryers conduct a lot of heat and electricity and can be safe if wired properly. Your breaker may need to be reset. Turn it off and then back on to get it to start up.

SOURCE: My Whirlpool Dryer GEW9868KQS has power, but

It's probably either the start switch or door switch. Try bypassing the switch and see if it starts. If it does, you can either replace the switch or try taking it apart and fixing the switch yourself. (I had a switch that simply required a copper contact to be readjusted and its worked perfectly for several years)

Bud I would suspect you may have melted wires farther up on the ones coming from the switch to to the rear of the car. Should have that checked cause it will be a fire issue. Your motor should have never melted before the fuse blew.

Why did the latch switch J61424tooap connector melted, could it be because of 3spots of bare metal on door frame?

It is most likely due to the connection becoming loose. A poor connection will cause the heat and melt it. You can replace the connection and it should fix the problem.

Electric dryer will not start

If the filter chute or vent to outside is clogged the skinny white fuse mounted on the blower next the the control t-stat melts. This kills power to the door switch circuit. The door switch circuit stops the motor whenever the door is opened using a door switch. If the door switch lever is broken or the door switch is broken she won't rune either. I found this pic on Google images. Hope this helps. I was having the same problem as the whole door lock and the wiring connectors were all melted because of a short. Samsung washer door interlock mechanism and wiring connections.

Still turns after opening door

When the door is closed the switch will close, allowing power to circulate through the rest of the circuit. When the dryer door is open the switch will open, breaking electrical contact to the neutral connection of the circuit and stopping the flow of electricity. so it sounds like a bad dryer door switch.

I have a GE Dryer model DBVH512EF0WW. I recently replaced the drum support bearing and the air duct assembly. But with everything plugged back in, the dryer will not power on. Checked voltage to and from...

If there's absolutely no motor hum when switched on there's just a chance the front door interlock switch isn't re-connected properly - could have been stressed when working on the drum. Check the connector and check for voltage being activated when door closed.

Good luck.

Sparks from starter switch wires

you may have lost one leg of power at the panel if fused or on 2 single pole breakers,or you could have burnt the neutral connection somewhere inside the unit
