Question about Vehicle Parts & Accessories

1 Answer

I have a car fitted with a Clifford GS 470 alarm but I cant get the alarm to stop. The car that this alarm was fitted in has not been started in 5 months and so the battery ran flat. I replaced the battery and once I did the alarm started and would not stop. I have tried both remote controls (I think the batteries on the remotes are working ok as the blue light on the remote works). I also keyed in the valet code (I think it is the correct one) but the alarm will not stop.

You might have to replace the batteries in the remotes. The reason why the alarm is going off because once you plug power back to the alarm brain it sets the alarm off and the only way to make it stop is to hit the unlock button the remote. Make sure all connections on the alarm brain are good and try changing the batteries in the remotes. also might have to reprogram the remotes to the brain if it has been sitting for awhile.

Clifford g5 alarm how do i reset it after i was checking fuses it wont let me start the car

The car won't start because the Clifford alarm has a starter interrupt wire where the start wire runs through the alarm system module/relay. The unit then must still be active for the car not to start. If pressing the disarm/unlock button on your Clifford key FOB does not turn the system off, you will after to do it manually. You will need to locate the manual override button installed somewhere in the car that is connected to the alarm system. Turn the ignition switch to "on" or "run" and within 10 seconds press the manual override switch. That will turn the alarm system off and allow the car to be driven normally. I would then take the vehicle to an authorized Clifford or other DEI (Viper) install shop and have them diagnose your apparent problem.

I have a 1995 audi coupe thats fitted with a clifford alsrm and immobiliser. is it possible to disable it?

You could go under the dash and try and find any aftermarket wires connecting to the ignition harness that may be able to be disconnected. I would try the heavy gauge red wires first. (make sure car starts afterwards). But to have a draw that strong there is more than likely another issue.

How do I disable my clifford 479 v/p/x system, it has my engine locked and my vehicle will not start?

With any door open click the LOCK key then UNLOCK then LOCK again... you should hear a series of beeps and the Red indicator light with stop flashing... the alarm is now bypassed. Repeat the procedure to enable the alarm.
However if your car has the remote start feature you may be having another issue altogether let me know if this solves your issue.
Good Luck

Battery went dead, clifford alarm locked the engine

Assuming that all is well with the vehicle's electrical system (fuses, etc...), the following should work, as Viper/Clifford uses the "fail safe" method of starter disable, and it only works to lock out the starter when the alarm is functioning properly and in the armed state.

That system has a "starter kill" system. When the alarm is actived, the starter kill is engages, and won't let the starter get voltage from the ignition switch. First thing I'd try is connecting the car's battery while the ignition key is turned to the "on/run" position. Cycle the alarm to arm, then disarm, so that the LED is not blinking. It also may require using the manual override button/switch (with the key on) to reset the alarm. Should start after that.

If all else fails, reconnecting the starter wires back together (they are spliced and running through the alarm via a SPDT relay.
