Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. If not, you may need to hard reset by holding down the reset button for at least 10 seconds.

I have an amp hooked up in my car.when I tried to connect the two woofers up to amp, the stereo cut off and the deck said protect.now that's all it will do is read protect.Wat do I do?

This is a circuit protection to stop you frying your audio! Could be a short circuit or wired wrong......remove the fault and it should reset! First remove the 2 sub woofers since that was when this happened and test the deck!

KDC-MP4032 head unit wont turn on

hi, seeing that your kenwood showed up "protect" you may have an audio circuit/amplifier fault within the unit. try resetting the unit to see if unit comes "on" again. if the unit comes on and protect flashes again, then you definitely have an internal audio circuit fault. if not then check all power connections(yellow and red wire voltages, as well as ground connection), as well as the condition of the face pins!

It just started flashing protect is there a reset button somewhere

"PROTECT" :- The speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle, and then the protection function is activated. Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. If the "PROTECT" code does not disappear, consult your nearest service center. Reset is a tiny little hole hole to the right of preset buttons along bottom of unit, Insert paperclip to reset to factory settings?
Good luck with it

check your speakers and speaker wires for shorts, and then disconnect power to the radio for a few seconds and reconnect it.

Its on protect mode and i cant get it off

Look on the face plate for a really small hole. Put the tip of a pen in the hole and hold it for a few seconds. Your system should then re-set. If the Protect signal keeps coming on, take it to the dealer to make sure your stereo is wired properly....hope this helps

"PROTECT" is displayed on the car stereo when turned on

This is really easy to fix. Look on the face plate for a REALLY small hole. Put the tip of a pen in the hole and it should work. This usually means the stereo isn't wired properly so if the PROTECT keeps coming on after you've re-set it, take it to a dealer. To make sure you're everything is in properly. Hope this helps...

Security Code for Protect mode

Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!
