Question about Whirlpool 24 in. GU1500XTLS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Extremely long cycle

I have a Whirlpool diswasher model GU1800XTLS3, serial # FR1011670 that is taking an extremely long time to complete its cycle. For instance, on normal wash using air dry, it takes up to 3 hrs from the time it is turned on. I have noticed that during the wash phase it sits on the same count-down minute for 5 to 10 minutes at a time with the sensing & water heating lights on. The unit is quite a ways from the water heater and it takes a minute or two for hot water to reach the adjacent sink faucet. Additional note - the drying coil is currently broken but the unit is set for air dry.

The drying coil that is broken also heats the water during the wash and rinsing phase. Right now it is waiting for the water to heat up, that's why it's pausing. Replace broken heater, they are relatively cheap and can be gotten at repair clinic.com.

The Whirlpool Cabrio and Kenmore Oasis (same machine) are infamous for this problem. Depending on the serial number you may be entitled to a new control board installed for free under a recall program. Call Whirlpool for eligibility. I had just had mine replaced last week for free and it runs fine now.

Slog builds up in the drain pipe right before the garbage disposer. I had to replace mine when I replaced my old dishwasher. If you put vinegar in the dishwasher to unplug the pipe, the vinegar could have loosen all the slog and clog the drain pipe just like a built up in the hurt artery.

Our less than 1 year old Whirlpool dishwasher model DU1145XTPQA is taking as much as 2 and 3/4 hrs. to complete the entire dishwashing (normal)cycle. This is much longer than it used to take.

Contact Whirlpool service immediately to get a service call scheduled before the warranty expires.
Most dishwashers that begin taking longer to complete the cycle have a failed heating element but that also normally means that the dishes do not get fully clean and the glassware has a film on it after the cycle ends.
Good Luck!

Whirlpool Dishwasher, serial number 330251002448 wont stop beeping

The main controller appears to be very confused or failed.
To test, fully remove power from the diswasher for at least 90 seconds. Power back on and test. If the same behaviour is seen, the controller card has almost certainly failed. A service call is the next step to repair.
If you reply, please include the model number of your Whirlpool Dishwasher. Good Luck!

Long washing cycle

sounds like a long time. sounds like it will wear out your dishes before it ever cleans them.
check the manual for cycle times.
could be a bad logic board, too. this happens most often when units are new.
talk to the service center for the unit since its new. they will be able to get right to the problem or send a repairman under warranty.
new units do fail.
good luck
