I hope I can help. I had the same problem and I took it back to the store to exchange it and the only thing they did was to reset the GPS. So just press the reset button for 2-3 seconds and see if it works. I hope it does. Good luck. :)

I ended up in the same situation and called (800) 421-5013 for help. The gentelman who assisted me said that how the DVD holds the same data
as factory Sanyo 4050 GPS and upgrading has locked your device. To
resolve the discussed issue one have to delete everything (plug-in your
device via USB cable --> My Computer --> Removable disk) and install fresh copy onto your navigation device via that DVD. Tried it with NO @!@ JOY

I got the chance to talk to 1st navteq and they requested that I speak with sanyo, then I got the chance to talk to sanyo customer service who couldn't offer any help other than asking me to wait till December or January when their version of 2009 map upgrade will be made available. There was one interesting revelation I kind of found out on Garmin 770 too; the same addresses could not be plotted or navigated by this also so I think it is a common factor and these are all somewhat new addresses of new developments. My suggestion will be wait till 2009 map upgrade is made available.
Unfortunately there is no solution...... I contacted NAVTEQ and I’ve got the following answer:
Hello Jane, Thank you for contacting NAVTEQ.Currently Sanyo does utilize our map databases however we do not produce nor distribute discs for their systems at this time. For information please contact Sanyo directly at http://sanyoservice.custhelp.comor 800.421.5013; select option 2 then 3. If you need additional assistance, please send us your feedback by replying to this email or by speaking with one of our agents at the number provided below, Monday through Friday. Kind regards, NAVTEQ Customer Service P.O. Box 1588 Orem, UT 84059 888.628.6277 firstname.lastname@example.org After that, I called 1800 as suggested and I got the answer I didn’t want to hear: Sanyo said that “The policy of the company is not to update NVM4050 EVER… the only one to be update is NVM 4370” …. So, we are stuck with our NVM4050….. How about everybody that owns a NVM4050 calls them ?!?!?!?!
